History of York,Maine; Charles Banks, Vol.I --------- Payne,Thomas first appears 1679; killed Candlmas Day Massacre,1692 along with his wife, children taken captive Bethia b.1680 and Samuel born 1682; she was redeemed in 1698 and Samuel there is no record. --------- Livingstone,Daniel: from Scotland, .left no descendants --------- Lamprey,Henry: in Boston 1652 with wife julia; lived at Hampton [now NH] about 1660 where his descendants lived for 200 years. --------- Bray,Richard: son of Richard of North Yarmouth [Maine]who was driven from that town in 1676 during the Indian war. children: Hannah Bray married John FREETHY; William was a keeper at the York goal,and Richard married 1691 Mrs Mary [Sayward]Young,widow of Robert. Had son Robert who lived at Georgetown [Maine]around 1712. ---------- Bray,William: son of Richard; goaler 1683-5; no further record, may have perished in the Candlemas Day massacre. ---------- Cooke,John: nothing known; married Elizabeth CURTIS,dau of Thomas; had son John who was carpenter late as 1755; ---------- Milberry,Henry: son of William; baptized Aug.7,1625; lived at Alcock Neck area; wife not known, had daughter Dorothy who was captured in 1692 and taken to Canada; Henry died 1695 ---------- Milberry, RIchard: younger brother of Henry; bapt.23 Sept,1628' at Stoke-in-Teignhead, County Devon,Eng.; killed in the massacre 1692. --------- Carlile, Joseph: this name was written in many ways by "illiterate clerks" and appeared as Curline, Carbine, Curloine, Curlile,Carleill, and Carlile. first appeared in records 1690; married Elizabeth BANE,dau of Lewis[Sr]; was blacksmith; Joseph drowned May 1718. 2d/w was Mrs Rachel[Maine]Preble, widow of Stephen,1695 --------- Black,Daniel: from Boxford,Mass.1695; son of Daniel and Faith(Bridges)of Boxford; his father was a Scotch prisoner 1651 and was put to service at the Lynn Iron Works; Daniel ma.)1)in Topsfield,Mary CUMMINGS and after her death, [no issue], (2) Sarah,dau of Philip Adams 1695 at Topsfield[Mass.]and had 5 children; he died 1710-12 -------------- Black, Edmond: b. 1704, son of James and Abigail Black of Boxford,Mass.and nephew of Daniel; came to York about 1727; married Hepsibah,dau of Josiah Black. ------------ Black,Josiah: son of Daniel of Boxford; was a husbandman; wife,Mary(__) and had 7 children. [no names] ----------- Wright,Henry: b.about 1650; carpenter; m.Sarah,dau of Edward START; 6 children ------------ Brown,Andrew: son of Andrew of Scarborough,born 1658; removed to Saco in 1717 and to Arundel 1719; married (1)Anne Allison of Scarborough (2)Mrs Sarah(Hill) Fletcher Priest, widow of Pendleton and William Priest. -------------- Allen,James: son of Walter of Berwick; his father married (2)Mary,dau of Thomas and Joan (Freethy) Holmes by 1694.
