Hi all, You might be able to get reprints of Bank's books at Higginson's Books in Salem, MA, unless it's still under copywrite. They do reprints of old books. Their phone is (978) 745-7170. They are also online, but I don't have the URL handy. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Bunnydust@attbi.com> To: <MEYORK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 11, 2003 3:14 PM Subject: Re: [MEYORK] ....good book stores > > I got my HISTORY OF YORK by Charles Banks, 1931/1935 and > reprinted in 1990 from the Harding's Bookstore located > in Wells,Maine via the http://www.abebooks.com > > Cynthia > > -- > Administrator for Ma-Bay-Colony- > L@rootsweb.com > Bunnydust@attbi.com > MBC archiver (postings) > http://archiver.rootsweb.com and > put Ma-Bay-Colony in the box > > In a message dated 12/31/2002 11:42:58 AM Central Standard Time, > > bunnydust@attbi.com writes: > > > > > Phil is correct, the book HISTORY OF YORK,MAINE deals with the > > > town of York, not the county. > > > > > > > > > > > Does anyone know where I could purchase this book at. I have just received the records of The First Church of Pepperrellborough (Saco). This book ONLY covers the years 1762 - 1798. I am willing to do lookups as long as you give me both the given and surnames. Rae Robertson
I bought my York books on the web. Go to ablebooks.com or book finders.com. I forget what I paid but they were sold as used books. They were in excellent shape -maybe used once. Phil
There are 2 volumes. I bought mine on the web. Go to able
An ancestor of mine from Kennebunkport was a teacher. I have a record that in 1925 she taught at the CONWAY CENTER. Can someone tell me what and where that is or anything else about it? Thanks. Carol Dobson New Englander living in Indiana

Dear List: In 1997 I received, as part of a package, a ROYALTY.GED from Parsons Technology when I purchased their Family Origins genealogy software. This GED contains much information concerning the early rulers of Europe, quite well-documented with references to many books on antiquity (not the usual unsubstantiated trash). With it, I have been able to connect to my family ancestors of well over 45 generations ago. I have also been able to determine that my family shares a large number of ancestors with Abraham Lincoln, and with the Washingtons, Spencers etc. etc. Those who have as ancestors Gov. Dudley of Mass.or his wife, Katherine Deighton, or William Hutchinson and his wife Anne Marbury, or the Hiltons of New Hampshire, or the Rev. John Wheelwright descendants in Maine, or are of the Lincolns, starting in Mass., can benefit greatly from use of this data base. I have, unfortunately, lost access to the GED after converting it to a personal data base, and then coding my ancestors with various prefixes to identify which family they were the progenitor of, thus making it extremely difficult to find the ancestor by a computer search as I add references from other text sources. The purpose of this mail is two-fold: 1) to alert people to the possibility of connecting to ancient ancestors, and 2) an attempt to obtain another copy of Royalty.GED (Parsons is no longer offering it on the Internet.) Would some kind person check out their files, and if they have the Royalty GED, provide me a copy? Please pass this message on to your e-mail correspondents who employ Parson's FO Software if you do not have the Royalty.GED yourself. I would be eternally grateful. Thank you.

The solution may be in finding out who gave the copies to the Library of Congress... ----Original Message Follows---- From: "George F. Banks's notes on certain families are at the York Historical Society by the Old Gaol Museum in York, and other papers are at the Bangor Public Library. (I have not used the ones in Bangor, but have used the others.) Moreover, I was told some years ago by a man who was definitely in a position to know that the unpublished manuscript of Volume 3 of the History of York was in private hands in York or someplace very close to York and the person who had it was not about to turn it over or allow his name to be repeated. I hope that whoever it is has made arrangements for it to either be published or be eventually turned over to an appropriate facility. My informant would not tell me who the person is because he did not want to go back on his word to the person who has the manuscript. Unfortunately, my informant died some years ago. We need to get our genealogical bloodhounds on the trail of this before it is too late. George Sanborn Dana Edgecomb wrote: > The papers that were left in Col.
