A major part of the problem is that the gatewayed board messages copied to the list don't copy the message that is being responded to. Sometimes when the post is a response the best thing to do if you feel this original post might interest you is to click on the link and then follow the thread to the previous post to see that original message. I've made a suggestion that gatewayed messages that are responses include a bit of the original post in the copy sent to the list but I don't know if the suggestion will ever be adopted or not.
