Milton Meyers, GOFFSTOWN Friday, October 18, 2002 GOFFSTOWN-Milton Meyers, 72, died Tuesday after a long battle with colon cancer. He was born in Boston, the son of max and Ruth (Cohen) Meyers. He lived in Randolph, Mass., before moving to Manchester at the age of 10. He graduated from Manchester Central High School and attended Boston University and the University of New Hamshire. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Meyers worked as a partner and later as president and general manager of Shirley Hill Farms Inc. in Goffstown. He later worked in commercial real estate and for Landmart Title Company, retiring in 1995. He was the longest-serving member of the Goffstown Planning Board, first elected in 1975 and serving until 1991, at which time the Goffstown Board of Selectman appointed him as an alternate. He was a member of the southern New Hampshire Planning Commission from 1975 until his death; served on the Goffstown Master Plan Committee, the Goffstown Industrial Council, as representative to the General Court from 1978 to 1983, and as director of the Greater Manchester Mental Health Center. He was a lifelong member of the Temple Adath Yeshurum and its Brotherhood, and he also served on the temple board of directors. He was appointed to the State Hazardous Waste Facility Siting Board by Gov. John Sununu in 1988, and in that capacity later served under Gov. Steve Merrill and Gov. Jeanne Shaheen. The 2001 Goffstown Annual Report was dedicated to him for his many years of continous service to the town. He enjoyed opera, classical and jazz music, traveling, flea markets and dining in good restaruants. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, JoAnn (Stone) Meyers of Goffstown; two sons, Jeffrey Meyers of Concord and Michael Meyers of New York City; a sister, Beatrice Peskoe of Homestead, Fla.; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held yesterday at Temple Adath Yeshurum in Manchester. Burial was held in Hebrew Cemetery. Memorial services were held yesterday at Hampshire Towers in Manchester and will be held tomorrow and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Jeffrey Meyers and Amy Ignatius, 18 Chestnut Court, Concord. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Homehealth and Hospice Services Inc., 1850 Elm St., Manchester 03101; the Alice Meyers Winston Fund of Temple Adath Yeshurum, 152 Prospect St., Manchester 03104; or Goffstown Emergency Medical Services Association, c/o the Goffstown Fire Department, 18 Church St. Goffstown 03045.
