The story I have is told from the wife of his son. John H. (Meyers) was born 1882 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He had an older sister but cant remember her name now. at about age 14 he came west on an emigrant or orphan train to Oregon/Washington. He was taken in by a family named Rhodes who owned a major department store there. His sister ended up in California. Although apearantly never adopted he took the name Rhodes as his own. He married a Bertha Campbell and his son was born John Ross Rhodes of 1918. He died 1969 in Washington. I have no information about his birth parents other than some possibilities of the 1880 census for which he wasnt yet born. The sur name was given as Meyers, but the spelling may be wrong.
