George was b. c. 1833 in Fairfield Co., Ohio, moved to Tazewell Co., Illinois with his family in the 1850's and then to Black Hawk Co., Iowa around 1870. He appears on the 1870 census as George MYERS & on the 1880 census as George Meyers; both years in Bennington Twp., Black Hawk Co. I have not been able to locate either George or wife Melissa on the 1900 census. George & Melissa's children included: Henry, Charles, Walker Benjamin, Elmer Eli, Hattie, Alvin, Arthur & Nettie. Son Henry was living in Black Hawk Co., IA in 1900 (Poyner Twp.) with wife Jennie and 5 children: Hattie, Floyd, Maud, Blanche & George. I know he was still in Black Hawk Co. (Dewar) in 1923. All of George's other children were in Colorado or Wyoming by 1923. I have considerable information on George's ancestors, but would like to know more about his descendants. (As an aside, George's family pretty much used the Moyer or Meyer spelling in Fairfield & Pickaway Co., OH, but once they arrived in Tazewell Co., IL, they tended to use the Myers spelling.)
