    3. Yes, Sir! The origin of Meyer(s) is of German ethnicity. The name is actually the title of what we refer to as "Mayor" in modern American. The name does mean leader of a city, town, village or burg. It's a very common name in Germany, as it is an old name (dating to just after the middle ages) and, of course, each town, etc., had it's own "Meyer" (along with descendants of the same name).
