If you are or know of Cassel/Cassels family descendents in the Catahoula/LaSalle Parish area of Louisiana, you might want to know about the annual Spring Ridge Church Memorial Day the first Sunday in May (this year - May 6). This event is held to honor original organizers of this church back in 1873 and features activities of a memorial church service, recognition of families, old fashioned dinner on the grounds, and plenty of time for conversation and meeting kin.
