Are you from the Burlington, Iowa area. If you can help me with anything at all I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you. My gr gr grandfather was John MEYERS, born about 1829(?) in Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. He married Dorothea STALER in about 1854, in Iowa. She was born in about 1833. They had two daughters, that I know of. Sophya (born 1855) and Mary (born 1850) (Marie?). Sophya married Phillip BRUMM, my gr grandfather in about 1878. Sophya and Phillip had four children, Rosa (born 1881), Mary Margaret (born 1884), John Fred (born 1886) and Louisa (born 1891, died 1893). I can find no information on John and Sophya or Mary. Rosa also has become a brick wall. There could have been other children, but I can’t find anything on them. I live in Plano, Texas, so I it’s not easy to get the info I need. I have information on my grandfather John BRUMM, and Mary Margaret. They married a brother and sister from the FEHSE’s of Burlington. In fact, there is family down here, over by Fort Worth. Like I stated, I'd appreciate any info you might have. Thank you again and God Bless. > Apparently there is a virus being sent, it seems to be targeting the > genealogical community. Please let's not start a virus discussion on the list. Viruses don't target any group in particular and they are not coming from the list or from RootsWeb. For a better understanding of what is going on I'm copying the following from this week's RootsWeb Review. KLEZ WORM WIGGLES ACROSS THE NET. No, RootsWeb.com is not sending you a virus or worm in an attachment -- no matter what these "forged" addresses with RootsWeb name in it say. Be sure your anti-virus software is up-to-date and that you use it. Never open any e-mail attachments unless you have confirmed with the sender that she or he did indeed send it to you for a reason. Do not assume that the attachment came from where it says -- these sophisticated worms are able to forge addresses and they are fooling lots of people. Some even claim to be "worm removal tools." Don't believe them. The Klez worm has been able to spread because of a security vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer (browser) and because many people do not update their browser and download these patches. Don't risk the loss of your personal and genealogical data: Update your browser now: [2-line URL]: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ q290108/default.asp/ Most antivirus vendors, such as Symantec, McAfee and Sophos, offer Klez patches. Is your computer virus free? Find out at: http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/ Previously published in RootsWeb Review: Vol. 5, No. 17, 24 April 2002. Joan Young, admin
Apparently there is a virus being sent, it seems to be targeting the genealogical community. Please be careful not to open attachments if you do not know the sender. Be especially careful if you get an attachment from the Master Mailing list. It is my understanding that these Mailing Lists do not accept attachments, so if you see one, don't open it - forward it to Abuse@attbi.com and then delete it. The Virus is called W32Klez.h@M. Make sure you update your Virus Protection Program. Jane

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pM1.2ACIB/686 Message Board Post: ok, not much to go on I know, but here is what I have. Mabel Ann (Meyers?) was born before a brother named John. The family has her as being somewhat older than him. John was born in 1882, so she would most likely be born about 1875. Family history had John as being born in Lincoln, Nebraska. When I located him the census had birthplace as Washington, but that could be a lie. When John was young he was taken in by the Rhodes family of Seattle, Washington who ran the Rhodes Department store there. Family history has him as being adopted by them. The Rhodes were killed before 1900 and he was placed in an orphanage in Seattle. The stories have that he escaped around age 14. I first find him using the Rhodes name living alone in Seattle in 1909. Now for the sister. I have a picture of her, sent to her brother. She wrote on it Mabel Ann Allison (her married name) and the date was in 1945 Hollywood. My parents remember visiting her and her 2 daughters in the 1950's in Los Angeles. and again about 1960. When my parents returned to the states in 1963 one of the daughters had died from her illness. I am trying to find the link to Mabel and John's parents if any can help me.
