    3. Hi, I am new to the list. I have reached a total dead end. Looking for a Charles York MEYERS (father of Herbert York MEYERS) in New York City. His son was born June 6, 1924, mother's maiden name Claudine Collins. Charles' occupation was listed as a traveling salesman. He was born aprox. 1885. Anyone out there know of him? Linda

    1. [Meyers] Edward MEYERS RN
    2. Sue Harding
    3. Had a break for a while but back on the list again! Seeking information about Edward MEYERS, my g-grandfather. I visited Carlisle, Cumbria, a couple of weeks ago and gleaned much information about Edward: b.06/May/1842, Carlisle; d.03/Apr/1910, Carlisle. According to his headstone in Carlisle Cemetary he was formerly a First Class Petty Officer of the Royal Navy, and was listed on the 1901 Census as a Naval Pensioner. After his retirement, he owned several shops in London Road,Carlisle, and was married to Mary Jane ROUTLEDGE, though I've no idea when and where they were married. There were a number of children listed. There is an entry in the 1881 census for an Edward Meyers, and the details fit except his mother is listed as BIRKETT - she presumably remarried, but no-one in the family has heard of this name. Someone passed me information from the 1851 census which is probably tied in with Edward's details, suggesting his father's name was Archibald MEYERS, born in Scotland. We believe the Meyers family originated from Heligoland, off the Dutch coast. If anyone has easy access to the 1871 census, could they try digging something up for me? Also, does anyone know and easy way to access Navy records - Edward was supposed to have been one of the hand-picked crew on the SS Warrior, sent to escort Princess Alexandra of Denmark to England for her marriage to the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII). I'd like to confirm this! Regards, Sue Harding --------------------------------- Get a bigger mailbox -- choose a size that fits your needs. http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/mail_storage.html

    1. Re: [Meyers] MEYERS' OF BALTIMORE, MD
    2. Hello, I am also related to a Meyer(s) family from Baltimore, MD on which information is illusive. My family initially is comprised of 4 brothers that came from Bonn, Germany in the late 1790's time frame and settled in Baltimore. their names were Donatius, Godfrey, Francis and Andrew. Godfrey had a son George but I have no information about him. This family was devout Catholic's and associated with the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I have tried to obtain family information from the church, but no success. I am related through Andrew and he with Godfrey owned and operated a brass foundry in the early 1800's. Godfrey married Ann Eisler their children were: George Frederick Godfrey Elizabeth Henrietta Catherine This information may help you to determine if this George is who you are seeking. T.W. 2. Hi: I've been watching the info re: Elizabeth Meyers and saw Warren, NJ. Do you know where Warren is in NJ? I have a branch of my Meyers family that moved to Haddonfield, NJ and have not been able to track them since. That branch was headed by Daniel Meyers, a brother of my great grandfather, Samuel. Previously they lived in Phila. Would appreciate any help you can be. Thanks, Bill Meyers

    3. Must be a 'Meyers' thing (just disappearing). I had an Uncle that I am trying to find info on, who joined the Merchant Marines (last location New Orleans), who just disappeared - never to be heard from again. His name was August J. Meyers, born approx 1903 in Pennsylvania. Would have disappeared around the early 1950's. Even wrote to the Merchant Marines and they won't help me - unless I have his Social Security number. -----Original Message----- From: april_s_brown@hotmail.com [mailto:april_s_brown@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2002 7:24 PM To: MEYERS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Meyers] Re: Elizabeth Meyers b. abt 1865 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/pM1.2ACIB/674.1 Message Board Post: Monica, as you can see, I am a Dedi. I am not too clear on family history, but my father's great aunt lived with us when I was young. We called her "Aunt Maggie", but I believe her given name was Margaret. I have to go through some old papers and books to be sure. We lived in Chicago, but I do remember that she had a son, Rheinhold, (Uncle Rennie to me) that lived in Milwaukee. I also remember that he was a Major (retired) in the Army. Uncle Rennie had 2 sons, I think that they were Rheinhold Charles (cousin Chuck) and Richard. Richard stayed in Milwaukee, and Chuck ended up in Virginia. I know that Chuck was doing a lot of geneology searches before he died, and he told me one time that he had traced the Dedi family back to Germany, somewhere around the Black Forest. I don't know if his widow saved any of the information. Hope this helps you. If I can be of further assistance, let me know via e-mail.
