My last name is meyer also-and I have relitives in Storm Lake, Iowa. Name is Donald meyer. Any relation?---John Meyer

Wow, small world! My maiden name was MEYER, and I do live in Storm Lake, Iowa. Not my name now tho---I don't recognize the name Donald Meyer tho. Any more info about him??? My ancestors were from Germany---from a very small village named Lothe---in Lippe Detmold, Germany. The church records were in a church in Schwalenberg, Lippe Detmold. The village of Lothe was way too small to have a church. We were actually in both villages in 2000, what a neat experience that was! I did find out long ago that the name wasn't actually MEYER at all---in German records it is recorded as MEIER. Another story shot to heck and back!! My Grandma always drilled it into me that it was spelled MEYER---nothing else~~~well Grandma, guess again!! I have the German birth, marriage, etc records, and they are all spelled MEIER. Sigghhh!! By the way, I was raised in Spencer, Iowa---about 45 miles North of Storm Lake. And my ancestors came to Stephenson Co, ILL (Rock Grove, Freeport area) before coming to Iowa. And it was Germany before that. Just couldn't let this one go by without writing!
