He was born dec 1851.On his obit it said one brother came and one stayed. It mentioned two sisters coming and the others staying. We have this little thick spiral bound green book of the Meyer family tree. The archives mentions that Mary Mollman and a Mary Ahrens wrote to his father saying that she liked it in united states and that frederick should come. Said his sisters should come also. It was Postmarked Galena, Jo davies Ilinois. That letter was written in 1868. and another by the other mary. iI was addressed to her brother in law Fredricks father. It mentions a sister anna. He had no siters anna. A letter my parents had many years ago mentioned that Freds mother died around 1855. His father Jurgen Friedrich Meyer was born at Neetzendorf [Dahlenburg church archives ] His parents Johann Jurgen meyer born 1814at Radenbeck [ church thomasburg] a schafer married !> to Maria Behrens a Haswirths daughter in Neetzendorf. Two or three brothers survived infancy and one sister. Jurgen Friedrich Meyer married Catharina Margaretha Luhmann of Eichdorf. He was then a Hausler. In 1845 He moved to Oldendorf to become a landowner. Then with that move he worked as aPark warden of a game reserve... [federal or state thing.........]> > I suspect that the father remarried. I may have this record or it could be someone else. he died about 1869 there. One of his brothers info surfaced in Uelzen. this brother married a Ratzman in Himbergen area of Uelzen..... Weste Westergellersen and Romstedt. Village names. > > Frederick may have come to america as > fritz, Friedrich, Frederick.> His sister was mentioned that came as mary was Maria. There were Two Marias in family records??? Another sister was Liese. Now all the first four sisters had the third name as Elisabeth. Whether they stayed at Galena or took positions as servants in homes or married soon, i don't know. The Meyer book says a Mary married a Fehring.??? A Dora marrid a Koenig. A margret married a Stille. and someone md a schmobel in the shipping busines.> I think this info was compiled for this Meyer book in 1970's.> I think the obit of Freds was compitled from something and I think it refered to Freds Immigration. One brother stayed and another came and two sisters came..> However the obit claims he had a brother in Oregon.???> > Church records that i have so far show the brother who stayed in the army at the time he came. This was Jurgen Heinrch Wilhlem Meyer born 1843., He married to Maria Dorothea Heins in 1873 at Oldendorf area. She was from Celle. In 1884 they came to usa destination Iowa where Fredrich was ready for them to come. Fredrich had gone to Galena then to Tete des Morts, jackson county Iowa [i may have mispelled it] He is in both census 1870 and 1880. His spelling of the name Meyer has been different through out his earlier years.> Fred was Landowner Living at Churdan Greene county by 1883. William and his family came Frisia arriving new york ap 8 1884.[I Found his immigration date from Hamburg Just yesterday. > William and family settled at Lohrville, Calhoun county in 1884 and four years after. They were members of st peters church at Farnhamville settlement area. The Meyer family pretty much stayed in Iowa and children moved around. > > Some Luhmann also came to this area. Some Luhmann went to Ottertail, Mn and to Cass county,Nebraska> > I have found nothing on the Oregon brother. No Records whatsoever. I have not yet found his sisters.> > I have more precise records if wanted by anyone.> > Hope this family could be yours.???> _________________________________________________________________> Connect to the next generation of MSN Messenger?> http://imagine-msn.com/messenger/launch80/default.aspx?locale=en-us&source=wlmailtagline> > ------------------------------> > To contact the MEYER list administrator, send an email to> MEYER-admin@rootsweb.com.> > To post a message to the MEYER mailing list, send an email to MEYER@rootsweb.com.> > __________________________________________________________> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MEYER-request@rootsweb.com> with the word "unsubscribe" without the quotes in the subject and the body of the> email with no additional text.> > > End of MEYER Digest, Vol 2, Issue 77> ************************************ _________________________________________________________________ Peek-a-boo FREE Tricks & Treats for You! http://www.reallivemoms.com?ocid=TXT_TAGHM&loc=us
