If you look for the family tree of Mathews you will find it. He has this name for sure. Herman ---henry friedrich Herman born april 27, 1881. in america he was Herman Henry. His sister mary married a Nahnsen and his sister Frieda married a Nahnsen. That should help you find the family tree at Ancestry. And for a broad background of my research in germany through churches here is my attempts to record it. meyer Schenck, Michels, Reinecke, Gehrke.... nothing on them yet at Jackson county Iowa or not much about Galena illnois. Other than the letter from Molleman asking them to come, I can't prove they were at Galena.!
