My Meyer's came from Germany to Ottawa, IL. to Rock Island. I just got back from some research in Rock Island and found that my relatives in the 1890's-1900 were Meyer. Before that it was Maier and when the older ones died Maier was put on their tombstone's in Rock Island and Moline. When their children started school they changed or it got changed to Mier.
