I didn't know I had so many answers until today or I would have answered sooner. I am checking out the AIDA site as I write this. Perhaps I didn't clarify my information. My GG Grandfather was August Meyer who was supposedly born in 1855, he emigrated to the US in 1870 and lived in St. Louis, Missouri with his second wife, Louise Bacher who was the daughter of Charles Bacher and Caroline Wiese. According to August's death certificate that I found on the Missouri State Archives website (http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/deathcertificates) it listed August's parents as Henry Meyer and Minnie Meyer. I know that Minnie is usually a nickname but I haven't been able to find anything about Henry Meyer or his family. I'm not sure what part of Germany August came from. He married Louise in 1882, August had been married before and had a daughter named Bertha from this first marriage. Louise and August had 3 sons, William, August Jr. and George (who is my grandfather). Finding August's death certificate listing his parents was the first breakthrough I'd had on him since I started doing genealogy over 20 years ago. I hope someone has some information about August's ancestors and maybe brothers and sisters, if he had any. Thanks again to everyone who tried to help.
