I assume that my MEYER family emigrated from Germany. They are listed in the 1880 census with Alexander and Mary Meyer as parents of sons, John and Alex, and a daughter, Louisa. John was born in Germany and Alex was born in Michigan. Hence, I assume that they emigrated between 1868 and 1872. I have no knowledge of any previous ancestors to Alex and Mary. I've been trying to track down any of their current descendents who might have some knowledge of their European ancestors. Thanks again.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/oh0.2ACEB/1874.1 Message Board Post: My Meyer ancestors came from Holdorf & Dinklage, Oldenburg, Germany in 1853 & 1854. I don't know if or when any of their siblings came to America. The spelling was Meier for one branch and another branch was Meyer. My great, great grandfather was Johann Heinrick Meier (John Henry Meyer) born 11/20/1806. His son, Henry John Meyer was born 7/31/1829. When Henry John Meyer came to America he stopped in Kentucky and then went to St. Louis, MO, then to New Vienna, Iowa and finally to Stearns County, Minnesota. Could he have stopped to see relatives in Kentucky? Maybe yours are connected. My great, great grandmother was also a Meyer--Elisabeth Anna Catharina Meyer born 9/26/1799. She had a brother, Johan Henricus Meyer born 4/1796.

Written on the back: "Uncle Ernest Meyer, wife Maggie holding Byron (son) w/ Mildred Meyer (daughter)" Also "(Toppy's brother)" I see them in Charleston WV in 1910, 1920 and 1930. I believe this is Ernest Meyer (son of Frederick Meyer and Augusta Ralph) and his wife Maggie Hissom (daughter of Henry Hissom). I think Ernest was born in Gallia Co Ohio. I see him with his parents in Gallia Co in 1880. In 1920, his widowed sister Emma Lindle is living with him. Emma was married in Gallia Co Ohio. Joecan
