    1. [Meyer] Roy Meyer, adopted by Joseph and Ida Meyer
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Meyer, possibly Townsend Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meyer/3132/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for information about my father, Roy Lee Meyer, the adopted son of Joseph and Ida Meyer. They are listed in the 1930 Census records for Winnsboro, Louisiana. Does anyone know anything about this family. I am trying to find adoption info about my father. Someone told me years ago that the Meyer family who adopted him knew the birth mother and her name might be Townsend.

    3. I am searching the Meyer family from Switzerland. Probably the Canton of Zug. Heinrich Meyer was born around 1822. He next appears in Franklin Co.(Brookville) Indiana. He married there and moved to Ripley Co., IN. He may have lived in Cincinnati before coming to IN. I hope to tie into another Swiss family in that area someday. I always watch the Meyer and Switzerland messages. 3. I am searching for any Meyer families from the Eldena, Schwerin, Mecklenburg area. My great great grandfater, Johan Heinrich Christian "Carl" Meyer was born December 31, 1838 in Eldena. He immigrated to the USA in May 1872 and went to Chicago. He was married to Elisabeth Wille at the First Zion Lutheran Church in Chicago in Sept of 1872. they then moved to Clayton Center, Clayton County, Iowa. He went by the names of Carl Meyer, J. C. Meyer, Charles Meyer, and around 1905 he changed the spelling of the last name to Meier. So, he then went by the names of Carl Meier, Karl Meier, J. C. Meier. At this time he purchased land North of Kimball, Brule County, South Dakota and lived there until his death in 1921. Carl's mother's maiden name was KAETELHOEN from Eldena and her mother's maiden name was LEIST or LEISTEN from Gross Schmoellen, Parish Doemitz, Germany. Carl's father's mother's maiden name was VOLSCHEN. Carl's siblings were Johann Heinrich Frederich "Martin" Meyer b. 1840 who lived in Hamburg; Johann Frederich "Fred" Andreas Meyer b. 1825 who immigrated to Clayton Center, Clayton County, Iowa; Maria Catharina Elisabeth Johanna " Leisette" Meyer b. 1833 who we think also immigrated to Clayton Center, Clayton County, Iowa. I would like to hear from anyone who is connected to the above surnames. Thank you. Marlene Sioux Falls, SD
