    1. [Meyer] F.W. Meyer of Bonney, Texas in 1910
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: BasketLady420 Surnames: Meyer Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meyer/3155/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In Texas, publicity of the lynching and riots provoked attacks of Mexicans. Because Mexicans "displayed an impudent attitude" they were attacked in Galveston. In construction camps and ranches in Webb, Duval, LaSalle, Dimmit and Starr Counties, Anglos attacked Mexicans who were reportedly "sullen and threatening since the burning of Rodriquez at Rock Springs." Anti-Mexican sentiment in Texas was widespread. An excerpt from a letter to U.S. President William Howard Taft from F.W. Meyer, a hattier from Bonney, Texas, was typical. "Because Ö an admitted low lifed mexican Criminal, who murdered a Texas Woman and destroyed an American HOME, the Mexicans murder good Americans because said greaser got his just dues Ö" [sic], he wrote. I am not related to this family, just passing on this information which comes from a website called "American Lynching." The link for the site is listed below. Author: circulating Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meyer/3151/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am posting to the different spellings. I am looking for George and Ida's family line after 1870. I know nothing about George, but Ida's parents were John and Rosana/Roxana (Whitehead) Olin and they resided in Solon Twp, Kent County, Michigan. Per census data, George and Ida may have resided in Algoma, MI in 1870 and then Philadelphia 31-WD, PA in 1880. Since I don't know if they had children, I don't know if this is the same family in the 1880 census. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
