    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jo3846jo Surnames: Meyer, Meyers, Halfmann, Hoffmann Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.meyer/1237.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am deep into genealogy on the Meyer family in Wisconsin. My Mother was a grandddaughter of John Anton Meyer. In my searching, I have found several members of the Meyer family who have websites with much more complete information than I had at the time.If you have not already done so, try www.4meyers.com. I'm sure that you will find information on your own family there. Do the naturalization papers on Michael show a more specific location from which he emigrated than just Eifel? And is Maria included on the papers, and do they show her last name. There is confusion as to whether her name was Halfmann or Hoffmann. If the papers could be sent by e-mail, I would be very appreciative to receive a copy. As well, I would be very happy to receive any pictures of your ancestors that you might have. I am trying to build a portfolio of Meyer family pictures. If you have some specific questions about the Meyers family, I will do my best to answer them. I have pretty much completed my search on my own branch of the family. Joe Doyle Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. George's line is: hisself, m. 1.Lizzie Becker, Leah Stoucher. George was the son of John Moyer (born Abt. 1778, died 09 May 1851) and Lizzie Strickler. John was the son of John Moyer (born 03 Mar 1744/45, died 15 Jun 1812) and Catharine Schaeffer (born Oct 1747, died 11 Oct 1825) So my question is who is Sarah??? Yes, as the family stories go, the children were all named with the middle name of Fox. It is also stated that Sallie sat on her daughter in law's pies! Whether the sitting on the pies is true or a spin of the truth is unknown, but humerous. My line migrated to Kansas and we have, in the family, the Moyer apple butter tub (which is huge and copper and beautiful and converted into a sitting room table). The apple butter kettle did come from the Pennsylvania Moyers via train to Kansas and is purported to be from the 1700s. I think with Wieland.......There was one who was a bus driver, I think. I couldn't find the posting where I had mentioned him. I would like to updaate my info a bit.johann Juergen Meyer married a maria elisabeth Behrens at Neetzendorf. Her family had a place. Johann Juergen Meyer was a shepherd. He came from Radenbeck. His father there was also a shepherd. that is as back as I can get with out writing to the church. In 1819 One of his sons married at Eichdorf which is a few miles away. the church was Nahrendorf. In 1845 Juerfen Friedrich Meyer moved his family to Oldendorf. He had another son and a few more girls. His wife maybe died in 1855. A relative is going to look this up. His wife at Eichdorf was Catharina Margaretha Luhmann. child of Luhmann and Reinecke. Her mother was Gehrke. Oldendorf an der Goehrde is where they owned land. I have records which state that Fred Meyer came from Bleckede. We now know he left hamburg april 28th 1869. I haven't found him on the ship. He may have gone by name Fritz. In one census he was there at Jackson county iowa as Fritz. In 1880 and 1870 at tete des Mortes jackson county. meier mier, myer, etc. Record archives state a Marie Mollemann wrote that Fred should come to Galena. Again another letter was written by marie Ahrens at Galena Illnois post office that fred and two women should come. Sister in law and mothers sister.. Fred was born 1851. If his mother died in 1855 then he may have looked on any second wife of his fathers as his mother. He may have had step brothers. Which I think he had with Michel or Sanders. I do not know for sure yet. Ahrens, Schulz, Schroeder, Michael, Meyer all mixed. Luhmanns of Bleckede immigrated to same area of Iowa. The relative of Galena jo Daviess county illinois were Schmeid [e][s] Blacksmiths or was that their name. Galena a lead mining area. I read a little of the book of that county and some of jackson county iowa. Some mixed in the two states. accross the river from each other. Also add clinton county, ia. I don't think we have any photos of Oregon Meyer. If we did we didn't know who they were. I had heard about a wanderer... Not sure who or which family he was in. Some family settled in Nebraska. I am beginning to think Texas also. I have seen a name of a Luhmann in oregon or washington. He is mentioned in a tree. He just might stem from the Luhmann of Michigan. on line. It would be wonderful to find.e our Meyer in Oregon. He may have changed his spelling too. I wonder what his name would be. And his age? Before his marriage or a move from Eichdorf to Oldendorf. Maybe after a second marriage? Freds father lived until 1869 or 79. I babble a bit too much. Michel or Michael were also at jackson county Ia. In the tree of fred meyer one of the descendents married a Michael. In that family the Michel was married to Dora Rickens. Just as Fred's wifes mother was Sophie Rickens. Rickens and Schenks came at different times. Different than Fred. I have turned a lot of trees with Michel and ahrens...meyer. but no Schenk mentioned. No Rickens mentioned. I wonder where they picked them up. Maria Schenk's church records say Bleckede. I do not have his naturalization papers yet. Probably done at jackson county. He was there until before 1882. We have to pop in the name Seil into the family too. More than one group. I look forwward to your info. I wonder when he immigrated. Directly to oregon or the long way around. I remember dad commenting that they did not know where that Meyer was at the time of the worlds fair. Which was Wa. I will return with Lindquist. I have heritage quest and can get watonwan now. So maybe I can dig up more. Thanks for writing jo Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They left April 14, 1834 with 5 children, all born in Westercappein, Wesfalen, Prussia. Daughter - Catharina Wilhelmina Meyer BD 24.06.1824, Daughter -Johanna Sophia Meyer BD 19.04.1826, Son -Johann Christian Wilhelm Meyer BD 26.01.1828, Daughter -Bernhardine Wilhelmine Meyer BD 19.07.1830, Daughter-Maria Dorothea Wilhelmine Meyer BD 30.01.1833, I found each family member listed in Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s . Year:1834 (does not give the date) Place:Baltimore, MD. The wife is listed as Agnesa Arnoldine Wilhelmin Kortlucke on the passenger information. Kortluck has been spelled- Kortlüke, Kartluke, Kortluecke, Kartluecke. I cannot find any information on them after their arrival in US. I am assuming they remained in the area for some time after arrival. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thank you.
