She married Anton Meuer (Meyer) and they moved to the Fond du Lac area, had nine kids. I have traced, at least partly, three of those lines, including (of course) my own. The spelling that was handed down in all of them is Meuer, though I suppose some in the family may have changed it to Meyer. I'd be eager to compare notes if you're still interested ... I've "rescued" two old photographs identified as Great Grandfather MOYER and Great Grandmother MOYER which were taken at the Brown Studio in Sterling, Illinois. The names John & Lizzie REITZ MOYER appear on the back of both of the photographs which appear to have been taken in the 1890's with the couple appearing to be in their 70's at the time the photographs were taken. Based on limited research I believe that these may be photographs of John H. MOYER b. 12 Nov 1818 in Hilltown, PA to parents Samuel B. MEYER and Barbara HIGH, and his wife. The records I found suggested that her name was Elizabeth MYERS b. 15 Nov 1824 in Bucks County, PA and that they were married 28 May 1843. The couple had 9 children including Barbara, Hiram, Mary, Hannah, Susan, Amanda, Elizabeth, Samuel M., and John M. MOYER. Can't explain the difference in the wife's name, maybe "Reitz" is her middle name rather than a maiden name? I am hoping that someone from the family can be located so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to them. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

They were both born in France around 1800. Joseph is in the 1840 and 1850 Census records for Clarence township, Erie County, New York. By 1860, Joseph, Theresa and some children were in Washington County, Iowa. In 1870, the parents had moved to Randolph County, Illinois to be near their son Joseph. Joseph had the following children: Joseph (lived in Randolph Co, Illinois), John (married Esther DeMarce and died in Civil War), Benjamin (unknown location), Mike (lived in Keokuk County, Iowa and Barbara (unknown location). I'd like to correspond with anyone researching this family. Thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi, I am looking for anyone who has Meyer family from Eldena, Grabow, Schwerin, Mecklenburg, Germany. My great grandfather, Johan Heinrich Christian "Carl" Meyer born December 31, 1838, immigrated from there in 1872. He was Lutheran. He first went to Chicago, IL, then to Clayton County, IA, on to Winneshiek County, IA and finally to Kimball, Brule County, South Dakota. He changed the spelling of Meyer to Meier around 1900. I am looking for his family in Germany and anywhere in the world. Thank you, Marlene in South Dakota, USA

They had two children, Marion and Dorothy. The interest is Frank brought his nephew over from Germany in 1904. That nephew is my grandfather Adolph Meyer. He came to the States in 1866/1867 along with siblings Jacob (b 1848), Martin (b 1853), Herman (abt 1862), Kate (abt 1862), and Lizzie (abt 1858). Soon after arriving in the US, Leonard married a widowed woman, Aagtje "Agnes" with two children by the last name Vlasman (sometimes called Fleischman). All settled in the Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan area. I cannot find any Netherlands information on any of these children or likely parents, despite Netherlands having excellent online records. I suspect their parents are named Jacob and some form of Nellie, as these names are prolific in the offspring coming from all these kids. Mary Anna Meyer was born somewhere in Germany on May 28, 1850 and came to Chicago around 1868. Soon after that she was married to Heye Warsing Follrichs and they appear on the 1870 Cook County census with an infant daughter, Katherine. They moved to Forreston, Ogle County, IL between 1870 and 1872 (Heye had a business in the area of the Great Fire of 1871 so that may have prompted their move.) Heye was from Rhaude Ost Friesland, Prussia so there is a possibility that Mary (or Maria as she was sometimes called)was from the same area. I would love to hear from you.
