Fred his brother came 28.4.1869 to Galena, Illinois and then Jackson county iowa. according to an obit of williams who was a journal writer.... one brother went to oregon and another stayed in germany. I have records of his brothers and sisters but there is no indication they had other brothers. Unless their father remarried. I was wondering what occupation your Meyers had when they came? and where did they settle in MN. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I should have tried harder. In answer to your question. I have only begun here. I have not put anything from the Meyer book on line yet. I should so so. at ancestry is a good detail of our family. If you look for the family tree of Mathews you will find it. He has this name for sure. Herman ---henry friedrich Herman born april 27, 1881. in america he was Herman Henry. His sister mary married a Nahnsen and his sister Frieda married a Nahnsen. That should help you find the family tree at Ancestry. And for a broad background of my research in germany through churches here is my attempts to record it. meyer Schenck, Michels, Reinecke, Gehrke.... nothing on them yet at Jackson county Iowa or not much about Galena illnois. Other than the letter from Molleman asking them to come, I can't prove they were at Galena.! I shall have to try records at luthern churches there. arootdigger.blogspot.com and wwwarootdigger.blogspot.com I have another that might have some minn stuff pictures, etc. called something like this lifeatsunnyslopefarm.blogspot.com any questions write me at gengeeheide at hotmail Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My sisters and I are hunting for our long lost ancestors. We have tons of "Meyer"s, with various spellings, i.e. Meyer, Meier, Myer, Myers, Meyers, that came over from Hanover, Germany. We have 52 different families with that name that we think are related all back to Hanover. I am looking for any information on any "Meyer" that came over from there in the 1800s. Would love to know more about your scrapbooks. lindalouoa@charter.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. For all births before 1904, the only record is referred to as "Doctor/Birth Returns" Apparently, on a weekly or monthly basis, doctors were required to submit a record of all births they delivered. This typically included date, parents names, fathers occupation, residence, physician's name/address... Originally, I thought that this Herman William Meyer might be related to my Meier/Meyer relatives, but at this point, it does not look likely. My Meyer ancestors were born in Switzerland. Anyway, the record I posted was the DOCTOR/BIRTH RETURN for the person you are looking for. I saw your post, and thought I'd help you out by posting it for you. It is on microfilm at the Phila. Archives.. but I don't believe it has any additional information than what I posted. Hope it helps, Chris Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Meyer, but I have not seen this record you posted. Can you tell me what kind of record it is? I'm curious as to what record in Philadelphia archives would contain the name of his personal physician... I want to get his death certificate too but am unsure where he died -- he lived in Vineland, NJ before his death around 1952 but had lived in Philadelphia prior to his marriage.
