It talks about him and his parents. Where I am confused is the line below. "The paternal grandfather of our subject was a native of Germany, but came to America in colonial days." The birthplace of William Myers was in Berks County, Pa., and within the same county his parents, Henry and Hannah (Kohler) Myers, were also born. The paternal grandfather of our subject was a native of Germany, but came to America in colonial days. Henry Myers, the father, was born May 6, 1784, and offered his services in the war of 1812, but was not called into battle. He was a carpenter and builder and also owned and cultivated a small farm. He was a Democrat and held several local offices in his borne district. He lived to be seventy-three years old, dying in the county where his birth had taken place. He was the father of fourteen children, of whom but three survive. Obed, the eldest, is carrying on the old homestead, and Frank resides in Reading, Pa. I understand it as WILLIAM'S grandfather came from Germany but have had a brick wall for a few years now. Could the author have meant HENRY'S grandfather was the one from Germany? The father was born 1814 named Jurgen Friedrich and he married Cathrina Margaretha Luhmann. His father was johann Juergen who married Maria Elisabeth Behrens. You can see her family information at arootdigger. go back through june and may. I had sent him a tree once who I thought could be ours, but it wasn't and somehow that stuff ended on this tree. Sadly some of our relatives are recording the wrong information. I hope that clears up some of my old postings. I wish I knew more about this Frederick and Paul Meyer. In your searches for Meyer, Myer,etc. , have you noted a Johann Fredrick or John F. Meyer. I'm searching for info regarding a John F. Meyer who was in California in 1866, in Nebraska in 1870 where he staked a homestead claim in 1871, sold it in 1876 and returned to California. I do not know his date or place of birth (other than Prussia). I do not know where he lived in California after 1876 or his date of death. I do not know if he came to another port of entry and moved across the US to CA. or came to CA via the Pacific. He was married by 1866 to Henrietta (maiden name unknown) who was listed on the 1870 San Francisco census as from Hanover with estimated date of birth 1845.
