Hello, I am asking for help. I am seeking information on "Zeke" MEYER. Information is as follows: 1) may be the son of Charles A. and Bertha MEYER, who immigrated from Saxony; lived in New Jersey and then Rhode Island. 2) "Zeke" may not be given name but nickname. 3) Zeke would be one of 14 children. 4) last known address in 1939, at the age of 48, 622 East Woodlawn Ave, Germantown, PA. 5) wife is Helen V. Meyer 6) Had a son, Charles Meyer, born ca 1915, 1916 7) Zeke raced in the Indy 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1936 and 1939, in 1939 his son Charles was his mechanic (the legal age was 21) 8) Zeke may have died ca 30 April 1962. The MEYER branch of my family has proven very difficult to research. Any advice and or comments would be greatly appreciated. Jim Mulligan ===== James A. Mulligan, MS. I had found a court document mixed in with some items I bought at an auction quite some time ago. The names on the document were Lewis and Herman Meyer. I had transcribed what was in this document and posted it on the internet. Here's the link. I hope it helps. Good luck with your search. If you will email me, I will email her and ask her permission to share her email address with you. I think she would be the best person to share more detailed info. with you. I have very little. She has far more information than I do. She has been at it longer than I. I have seen other posts that I assume are also from distant cousins on different lines. So far, I have emailed them, but have no response yet. Am I correct in assuming you are a distant cousin also? I am sorry I don't have the info. you need, but hopefully the other source does. He was born in Switzerland and was a silk weaver. They had five kids: Emil, Elsie, Edna, Hattie, and Joseph (my grandfather). Joseph was youngest and born 1901 in New York City. Great-grandfather was aged 43 at time of Joseph's birth. Understand Pauline committed suicide approximately 1917. Emil was killed by train in New York City approximately 1944. I'm new at this but am stopped dead at this point.
Many, many people still listed in the telephone white pages under Meyer in Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., IA. Surely some of them are related to this couple. W. C. was a linotype operator for the locally newspaper. Lillian supposedly was killed in a fire. (date unknown) Couple known to be living in her parents former home (Wm. Wright Nelson) as late as 1950. Sound like family? Help! Karen Nelson Hangsleben
I'd be interested in this line as well...My great grandfather was Ernst H. Meyer, came over in mid 1880's, not sure what port he came into, but settled in Guilford Township. He was only 14 at time of immigration, I think he may have travelled with a Johann Friederich Meyer. Parents were Nicolaus Meyer and Maria Tobas Meyer. Thanks for the help!
