Wow, small world! My maiden name was MEYER, and I do live in Storm Lake, Iowa. Not my name now tho---I don't recognize the name Donald Meyer tho. Any more info about him??? My ancestors were from Germany---from a very small village named Lothe---in Lippe Detmold, Germany. The church records were in a church in Schwalenberg, Lippe Detmold. The village of Lothe was way too small to have a church. We were actually in both villages in 2000, what a neat experience that was! I did find out long ago that the name wasn't actually MEYER at all---in German records it is recorded as MEIER. Another story shot to heck and back!! My Grandma always drilled it into me that it was spelled MEYER---nothing else~~~well Grandma, guess again!! I have the German birth, marriage, etc records, and they are all spelled MEIER. Sigghhh!! By the way, I was raised in Spencer, Iowa---about 45 miles North of Storm Lake. And my ancestors came to Stephenson Co, ILL (Rock Grove, Freeport area) before coming to Iowa. And it was Germany before that. Just couldn't let this one go by without writing! Ill. A kind lady found an obit on him which did not give much info for his parents, but did help in possibly finding him in the 1880 census. Here is the obit written as it was in the paper: The funeeral of John Sylvoester Davis, a former resideent of this city was held Monday afternoon from Golden's Point church with interment in Oak Grove (Curry) cemetery. He was a native of this state having been born in March 1, 1857 and lived here until 1880 when he went to Missouri and was there marrieed to Miss Ellen Murphy in 1882, in Granite City. This is who I found in the 1880 census in Saint Louis Missouri. It shows both Belle and John's parents born in Kentucky and Virginia, which could be wrong-but could explain why I am having trouble finding my Davis line. Belle is also 10 years older than John, which tells me they may have a lot of siblings or possibly different mother, same father. There are 3 Wilheminas in the 1930 OK census age 30/31 none born in Germany. There are a couple of hundred Minnies, Minas, etc. which I did not check.

The postcard looks to be dated circa 1915. It pictures F. W. Heinly and his family: wife and two little girls one about age 18 mos., the other is about age 5. The content on the back of the postcard reads: F.W. Heinly was born in Virginville, PA., Dec. 24, 1887. Came to Gospel Trumpet Office at Moundsville, WV, August 29, 1904. He began work in tract room and later became janitor. In 1905 he went to New York City, where he became Brother D.O. Teasley’s stenographer. While Brother Heinly was serving in this capacity Brother Khan, who was visiting America, dictated to him the book, “India’s Millions.” In Sept. 1909 he came to Anderson. Worked in the Sales Department 1909-1911. In June 1911, he became Managing Editor of the Gospel Trumpet, a position he resigned in 1917, spending the time until July 31, 1918 in obtaining a much needed rest and in doing home missionary work in Nebraska, TX, and a few other places. On the latter date, he sailed for India, where he became General Secretary of the work of the church in India. Brother Heinly is an enthusiastic efficient missionary, as well as an able executive in the office of Secretary. He will have c! harge of the new station at Kurigram, for which $10,000 was raised by special donation last Christmas. Maude L. Meyer was born at Ableman, Wisconsin, March 10, 1890.
