I should know when he left iowa. And how old he was and should know maybe how old he was when he went to califnia. But I didn't think that far when I posted and haven't given it a whole lot of thought. The book lists his first child as Paul but no date. His brother are Wilbert Romayne, Edward John, Ferris William, Kenneth Wilder and Charles Henry. This charles bvorn feb. 25, 1926 in churdan iowa. He was buried in Williamsburg, iowa around aug. 9, 1970. He was in business administration and social work. Charles first child was born iowa city in 1950. If i check census and see when the other children were born then i'd have a clue if he went to iowa. a different topic maybe peertaining to calif... I remember a relative mentioning a gold panner and mentioning someone being a hobo.Probably two different people. I will need to ask the Meyer relatives without offending. I thank you for your help. Have you heard of that unidentified people photo web area. Is that still around? It was appreciated very much.

By 1898 they had moved to Postville, IA which is about 25 miles NW of Clayton Center. When I went to Clayton Co. in June I could not find any information on my family. I did find their graves at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery across the street from the church in Clayton Center, Clayton Co., IA. I went through Guttenburg on my way to Clayton Center. It is a very nice town and I still want to go back as it has a very nice antique shop I was too late to go through. I think your Meyer family is another one other than mine although my great grand father went by the name of Charles Meyer and he had a son by the same name. There was a John Meyer family from Guttenburg also. I will need to look up the information I have on them. I wish there was a connection as I am up a brick wall. Meyer is a very common name and hard to trace. Were your Meyer's from Mecklenburg? Please reply.
