Surnames: Meyer, Wolfe, Westrich, Redwine, Singleton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/oh0.2ACEB/1857 Message Board Post: I am looking for information and links to family ancestry realting to my greatgrandfather Friedrich Meyer born 1871 and died 1958 in Taylor County, WI. He was married to Bertha Wolfe, born 1873, they had 7 childre, William Ernest, Herman, Albert, Frieda, Olga, Rudy and Charles. If you have amy information about when they came to America, who they descended from or where they came from or any other probable links, please let me know.
Notes written by Sue Ellen Myer, my wife Nancy's Grandmother, on back of 2 pictures taken in Remington, Indiana, sometime after about 1885 indicate the following. As clarification to the notes, Sue Ellen was Grand Daugther of Paul Fredrich Augest Meyer and Auguste Christiane Sieghold On the back of the picture of the male, August's brother (name unknown) it states that August was one of 8 brothers, only two of which came to America. August's brother (pictured) was a Baptist minister in the Chicago area. The back of the picture of this minister's wife indicates that she was only known as "Aunt" first name unknown. German Records we have indicate there were actully 11 children. However, 6 died young. The potential candidates appear to be 1, Johann Diederich Meyer born February 13, 1819 and his wife Anna Maria Hemken who were married May 8, 1846 in Ovelgoenne. Records indicate in 1848 both became Baptists. 2.Johann Hinrich Meyer born August 6, 1825 and his Anna Elisabeth Harms who were married February 4, 1856 in Rodenkirchen. or perhaps but less likely 3. Juergen Wilhelm Meyer born September 27, 1832 of who nothing else is known. While it appears that Johann Diederich may be the best candidate nothing is certain as we have not been unable to confirm if he even migrated. As background, Sue Ellen's Grandfather, Paul Fredrich Augest Meyer was born on April 4, 1843 in Duchy of Oldenburg, Germany. The family basically living in the Bremen area. Augest immigrated to the U.S. in July 1884 - Bremen to Baltimore - with his wife Auguste Christiane Sieghold and 4 children John George Meyer (Nancy's G-G Grandfather), Emma Johanne Auguste Meyer, Martha Helena (Lena) Elise Meyer, Carl Johann Meyer, winding up in White and Jasper Counties, Indiana. Any help on this "brick wall" would be appreciate. Arnie Koslow
