My gggrandmother was Amanda McDONALD ROBINSON. Her parents are said to be William McDONALD and Love RAMSDELL. Amanda married Sanford Hunt ROBINSON (Dec. 26, 1831, OR, was it 1824?) and, when still young, they moved to Strongs Prairie, Adams County, Wisconsin, where Amanda died and is buried. On her gravestone it says "AMANDA wife of S.H. ROBINSON Died Oct 1, 1871 aged 36 years 1 mo and 10 days". Our family records, compiled by my grandfather in the 1940s, state that Amanda McDonald was born in Scotland (October 1834, he wrote) but we have no other evidence of this. He noted that their son Charles S. ROBINSON was born March 6, 1863, in Maine, but he gave no other birth data on their other children that he listed as: Martha, Mary Lizzie, Andrew Bradford, and Joseph Strout. Could anyone tell me about Amanda and the McDONALD line and, also, who the parents of Love RAMSDELL are? I am coming to Eastport, Me, in October (Elderhostel trip) and would appreciate some leads as to where to begin looking for good, sound documentation on Amanda McDONALD. Thanks for any help.
