Thanks to Karen for the link - I didn't find anything on my lines in the stuff from Sheriff Cooper -- but I got a great surprise when I saw that the second sheriff of the county was Horatio Balch (1821-1829). He is in my line - from the year's of service I assume he was my great-grandfather's uncle or great-uncle. Does anyone have any other information on Sheriff Balch? Karin Morey Oregon City OR
