In my pursuit of a Butler family of the Marion/Meddybemps/Charlotte/Baring area I visited the Calais Free Library a week ago to look at census films... What was interesting was a slim volume entitled: "Early Church Records of the Baptist Church in Town of Charlotte (begins 1829)" It has many birth/death vitals, as well as baptisms and church 'leavings', and I found it especially useful for sorting out families in the 1830s and 1840s. SIDELIGHT: On the BUTLER family - it clinched the fact of an Ephraim Butler Sr. & Jr., and indicates an association with Thankful Butler (sister) - all leaving the church around 1840 (they moved to Baring about then.)
