Lubec Mills August 18th 1851 Dearest Amanda Your kind letter is received and I hasten to answer it I do not know of anything to communicate that might ineterest you therefore shall have to rely on my own resourses for matter to write and I fear you will have rather a dry letter Mr Fowler left for Boston last Friday I sent for what furniture we shall want of him. It will be here about the time you return I wish we were married and all the bother was done with. but we will enjoy ourselves enough to compensate for all our trouble ten thousand time when we get settled and have a home of out own. I am really glad to hear that your health is improving a little and trust that you may be restored to good health. Oh! how much happier we wuld be then there would be nothing to make us unhappy It seems as if I could not wate untill that happy period did arrive I am so lonesome now that I do not know what to do with myself I was down to the Point Sunday but came home as soon as meeting was done Baker brought me up with the horse and we rode clear to the head of the neck Your mother is quite well and had grown so fat that her dresses are all to tight for her I wish I could say the same for myself The Pic Nic tht Lizzie wrote you about they did not have It all fell through not an uncommon thing for Lubec The talk around town is that Lizzie and Henry are going to make up again and I think it is pretty near the truth at any rate it looks that way now He was going to Boston next Friday to take a situation in a dry goods store but has put it off one boat when lizzie and quite a number are going John H Harris Marshall Rich Mifs Abbott Mary Brastow and some others I believei they will arrive in P the 24th of the month Mr Messenger & Mifs Lamson are published. And they have it up here to day that we arr but I think they are a little ahead of time We got all through haying a week ago today and I am glad I feel nicely now and do not think I hurt myself any although I worked pretty hard I am pretty busy now in the store Today I have written two letters besides this one to Cousin Sarah & one to Cousin Charles I know Dear Sis that you would enjoy your visit much more if your health was a little better still you must ryand make it as pleasant as possible As regards your coming home do as you think best we all will be right glad to see you but do not shorten it on my account as I would rather have you enjoy yourself than to myself Arabella Hinter has given up her shop at Eastport that looks some like getting married this fall so we will not be alone It is getting dark and I must close for to night I will finish in the morn so good night and pleasant dreams It is now morning but I shall not have time to write more Now Sis be prudent and take good care of precious health I received a letter fro Helen _aleby she had been down to New York on a Visit and enjoyed herself finely she spoke of receiving a letter from you in which you spoke of my coming to Hartford this fall but I shall not be able to go I am very sorry as your letter raised their expectations But I must close so good day and a good kiss from your Affectionate Henry My respects to Edward and all who enquire Hen
