    3. The Washington County Genealogical Society will hold their first meeting of the 2001 season beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 24th at the Peavey Memorial Library in Eastport. The society was organized in the fall of 1992 and is open to all who are interested in family history and genealogy whether a beginner or advanced. Besides providing a networking system for researchers, WCGS promotes the preserving of records, photos and education opportunities for Washington County genealogists. Those attending are encouraged to bring research problems, share new findings, and suggest programs and activities for the coming year. Looking forward to the April meeting, Roxanne Moore Sauicer, editor of Family Ties for the Bangor Daily News, will be the featured speaker at the meeting to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at the University of Maine at Machias. She will discuss research at the Bangor Public Library and at the Fogler Library at UM Orono. The public is being invited to both meeting.
