When my ggrandfather Asa T.McRae left his home in NB. , in a letter (from wesley) he told of stopping at Gould Hoares` in Whiting for nine days then on to East Machias and seeing James Hoar & family .And that James` Wife wished Asa`s sister Janet would come down and that "wages were a dollar to a dollar and a quarter a week " This one of many letters was written Nov. 6th 1853 .
