Hello everyone, here is the response from the person who put my family information online. I want to say to everyone who has responded that I thank you all for your sympathies, but it is very distressing to know that this same thing has been done to so many people. I also want to note that the gentleman who gave this information out, is not of blame. He put this information on a private family website and this "other person" chose to copy it off and put it on ALL of the public forums at her disposal, without permission. The thing that really gets my goat is that my family doesn't intersect with her family at all, it is a connection by marriage only. Obviously this person is one of 'those" that are just in this hobby to have the biggest file on line, and as a newbie she is telling me how genealogy works!!! Ancestry.com has agreed to remove the website, I didn't get a response from the Mormon's yet and FTM says they cannot do anything, but we'll see. I'm going to call today and press my point. I already removed my website from their website and discussed the "reason" why, so I think they will accomodate me. ------------------------------------------------------ Ok...here is how family history works. I was given the Family information by a family member that was married into my family. I was given THEIR PERMISSION to use this and that is all I need. This information does not belong to you personally...remember without your family you would not be. This is not considered ownership. I did nothing more than to show my Aunt's husband's family and that is of no harm to anyone. If you would like to put some kind of notes to the places where the information is...that is fine, but it is not my responsibilty to do that. I do not personally know V.. nor do I care anymore about this information than that one of the son's is married into my family. I also do not appreciate being contacted in a manner where you as a stranger to me are demanding something. I do not wish to be contacted in regards to this matter again...if you want you can contact and discuss them with my Aunt D. and Uncle R. D. as they are the family who originally published the information that I copied into my tree.
