    1. [MEWASHIN-L] Keyes/Harrington Question
    2. Kenneth Harrington McKeever
    3. Greetings, I have been researching my Eastport Harrington line for a number of years and have a question that you may be able to help answer. My direct line in Eastport goes as follows: 1). Andrew Harrington (Herrington) I and Jane Frost 2). Andrew Harrington II and Abigail Clark 3). Andrew Harrington III and Phoebe Ann Herrington b. 1805 (some records say Phoebe Keyes) 4). John Bent Harrington and Annie Augusta Capen 5). Fred Alexander Harrington and Mollie Pope Cushing 6). Ralph Alexander Harrington and Melitia Edna Silver 7). Janet Ruth Harrington and Kenneth Francis McKeever 8). Me Vital records published in the Eastport Sentinal list the marriage of Andrew Herrington and Phoebe Ann Herrington; however, notes I was given from a Harry Harrington mention that she was named Phoebe Ann Keyes. Phoebe Ann Harrington and Andrew III name some of their first kids after members of Jonas Temple Keyes family. For example, their first son was named Isreal Keyes Harrington (after Jonas' father or brother), another girl is named Cornelia Bush Harrington (after Jonas' sister Cornelia Bush Keyes), and my ancester is named John Bent Harrington. In the last example John Bent was the husband of Dolly Temple Keyes, Jonas' only daughter of record. Thus, I have been searching the Keyes family records thinking that Phoebe Ann was either a sister, daughter, or niece of Jonas Keyes. This has been a dead end and I have been stuck finding the parents of Phoebe Ann Harrington until last night when I came across some new info that help may solve my mystery. A FTM web page I came across lists a Nancy Clary, born Feb 20, 1783 in Georgetown, Lincoln (now Sagadahoc), Maine; died Aft. 1870; married (1) Joseph Herrington Jun 8, 1803 in Georgetown, Sagadahoc, Maine; married (2) Jonas Keys Mar 26, 1812 in Eastport, Washington, Maine; married (3)Thomas Harriman May 15, 1815 in Nobleboro, Lincoln, Maine. I have a theory now that Phoebe Ann was the daughter of Nancy Clary and Joseph Herrington and that Nancy was either widowed or divorced when she married Jonas T. Keyes. She appears to have had one child with Jonas Keyes, Dolly Temple Keyes, b. Eastport, ME. Nancy must have divorced Jonas as his death date is 1831 in Eastport. Nancy and her 3rd husnband had several children and lived elsewhere in Maine. I speculate that Jonas raised both Dolly, his natural daughter, and Phoebe Ann, his step-daughter, and that that is why the notes passed down in the family call Phoebe Ann Herrington, Phoebe Ann Keyes. Are there divoce records for Washington County or would those records be in Eastport? Does my theory fit? Does anyone reading this list have a Joseph Herrington (Harrington) in their records, born about 1780 who married Nancy Clary of Georgetown? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
