    3. Hi list, Well, I just couldn't resist buying another book = "Vital Records of Alexander, Washington County, Maine" compiled by Sharon D. Howland. Picton Press. The author has done a more than excellent job in compiling all these records. The book contains, marriage records, family records, cemetery listings and census 1820 - 1920. (except 1890) Because it covers so much, I am asking you to give me more specifics on the requests you would like me to look up for you: - specific name please - not all Smith's; - what sections you are wanting information on ie. - marriage and family records - the major time frame seems to be 1800 - 1850 - cemetery records - census records - and what years are needed. It will probably take a little more time to respond to these lookups, but I will post them to your private email and to the list. Hope this information is of help. Bev Bird Colorado

    1. [MEWASHIN-L] BRIDGES/SMITH/DAVIS
    2. Was beginning to doubt my great great grandparents existed, until this week when a Sharon Howland did a look up for me in some census records. Does anyone out there have any connections to the BRIDGES family of the Marion area? Edwin P. BRIDGES was the son of Abraham BRIDGESand the former Ruth SMITH. he married Katherine DAVIS, year unknown (guestimate is 1865-1868). found out that Edwin had 5 siblings, Elihua, Irene, Charles, Elizabeth and John f. also looks like Abraham's mother shows up in the 1860 census at the age of 86. she was born in Massachusetts abt. 1874. apparently Edwin and Katherine at least three children, Carrie M. b. abt. 1868, Harvey, and my husband's great grandmother, Edna G. (born 1875). thanks, Sally Rowe Livonia, MI

    1. [MEWASHIN-L] Maine Vital Record laws
    2. Valdine C. Atwood
    3. To all... Crazy as it sounds Carol Glidden is correct in her reading of my message of April 24th... Yes the law states that the towns are not SUPPOSED to show the vital records after 1892 to the general public .. but the records of some towns are on microfilm and can be viewed at the Maine State Archives in Augusta ... another crazy law that doesn't make much sense. In addition some town clerks just look the other way and allow the viewing of the records ... and others will show you the ruling and deny the viewing of those records...
