    1. [MEWASHIN-L] James, John or Seth Lincoln, Abigail Meserve ,Hannah Phinney
    2. Walter Rankin
    3. Hello Listers, I am looking for an Obit for James Lincoln who died in Machaisport in 1839. I have been trying to find the connection between Susan Lincoln and Seth W. Lincoln. I have a letter from Seth W. Lincolns daughter that was sent to my Aunt tying the tree to Abraham Lincoln. My aunt added a note that said Seth W.Lincoln and Emily Susan Bryant were believed to be cousins so I am searching to find proof rather than conjecture. Susan Lincoln m. Joseph Bryant and is listed in the 1850 Machaisport census as 40 yrs. old. Daughter Emily is listed as age 12 which supports her birth date in 1837. Looking at Film # 11562 Machais Me Vital Records the first portion covering dates 1176-1814 I found a Susanna Lincoln b. Sept 13 1801 with brother JAMES Aug 6, 1904 -- parents John and Abigail Lincoln. Also found a marriage record for a John Lincoln and Nabby Merserve unfortunately there was no date recorded and no pastors name. This morning I looked on the www.Familysearch.com site plugging in John Lincoln with Abigail as spouse and came up with a hit showing John who married Abigail Merserve, and a father JAMES who died in Machaisport in 1839. James Lincoln also has a son named SETH although the date seems to be a little early to be even our Seth W.'s father who's name according to my family letter was also Seth but is listed in the "Early Plesasant River Families of Washington County, Maine" on page 174 as William Seth. There is a note stating that Seth Lincoln provided some of the information in 1924. His mother Hannah A. (Phinney) Lincoln of Machiasport Ancestrial File # for John Lincoln 1FCF-7DJ AFN# FOR Abigail 1FCF-17FQ altho the 1's could have been I's but you can check on the family site. Questions? Is Nabby a nickname for Abigail? The date listed for susanna's birth is a little eariler than we thought it should be? She is recorded as age 40 in the 1850 Census. Could there be an error on the Census Record regarding her age? OR are we barking up the wrong tree? Is there an Obit for James Lincoln and how would I go about finding it? If anyone has any more information on any part of this family or can give any insight on where else to look I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. I have a family reunion coming up in two weeks and would love to be able to put Susanna into the Lincoln tree and connect the families. 2. Hello, list, I have the following entry from the Eastport Sentinel Vital Records Book: "2 Oct. 1824 Vol 7 #7 Marriages: In Eastport, 29 Sep 1824, By Rev.Charles Morgridge, Josiah Phelps, of Lubec to Catherine W. Sherwood, of Eastport." Does anyone know the denomination and name of the Church that Reverend Charles Morgridge was a minister in in 1824? If so, is that church still in existence in Eastport? If so, does anyone have the address I would write to for parish records? If not, where would the records be now? Thanks! Celia

    1. [MEWASHIN-L] Immigrants to Pennsylvania-CD#501
    2. Marilyn
    3. Hi Listers, Apologies for multiple list posts. I'm looking for someone who has Family Tree Maker CD #501, Immigrants to Pennsylvania 1600s-1800s as I need a lookup. Particularly interested in surname MAXWELL, from 1766-1776. I know that my ancestor James MAXWELL came to Schuykill River area near Philadelphia from Armagh Northern Ireland with his widowed mother and 2 brothers. Family history says they were of Scottish descent. James apprenticed with a potter and then joined in the American Revolution as a driver w/the Flying Artillery. Along with his friend Thomas GRIMMER (whose wife was Lydia WEY) they subsequently evacuated from New York to Shelbourne Nova Scotia in 1784. Eventually they were granted land in St. Stephen, Charlotte County, New Brunswick. James never saw his mother or two brothers again due to distance. I am attempting to track his mother and brothers down. I have determined that there was an Ann MAXWELL from Ireland, who was indentured to Robert Carson in Philadelphia for 3 yrs on 19 Oct. 1771, and another/same? Ann MAXWELL indentured to Thomas JONES in Hill Town tsp. Bucks Co., for 3 yrs. on 27 Nov. 1771. So if any lister has a Family Tree Maker CD with reference to Pennsylvania in the 1766-1776 time period, I would very much appreciate a Lookup on MAXWELL. I'm trying to cover all lists in the hopes that I can solicit a wider audience. Thank you so much for listening. Marilyn Maxwell Strout

    3. The Naturalization papers - or at least a card file - for Washington County is available at the Washington County Court House in Machias. Found two records. About a year ago I went down, and spent a worthwhile hour going through them, before hitting the registry office for land transfers (in the same set of buildings). Tom Moffatt St. Stephen, NB

    3. At the Washington Co. Courthouse at Machias, Maine are SOME naturalization records covering the period that you are look at - 1860... these are records for people becoming naturalized in the just this county... 1. [MEWASHIN-L] 1850 Census
    2. Not that I own any stock in the company...but the Genealogy Library (www.genealogylibrary.com) has the 1850 census on line - actual images - from several states including Maine. I printed out a copy of my Washington County ancestors from it a few weeks ago. They offer an inexpensive monthly subscription -- really worthwhile if you want images from that specific census. 3. Hi Brian, I don't have access to the census - however I checked the resources I do have. "Vital Records from the Eastport Sentinel of Eastport, Maine, 1818-1900" Maine Genealogical Society. Edited by Kenneth L. Willey. Picton Press. Vol 9 #14, 18 Nov 1826 Marriages: In Eastport, no date given, by Rev. MERRIAM, Samuel MORRISON to Elizabeth CLARK. Vol 40 #46, 7 Sep 1859 Marriages: In Cutler, 24 Aug 1859, by Rev. I.J. BURGESS, Alexander Morrison and Sophia DAY, both of Calais. There are other mentions of George, Samuel and Alexander, but are after 1863. "Marriage Returns of Washington County, Maine prior to 1892", did not contain these given names. "Vital Records of Alexander, Washington County, Maine", did not contain these given names. Good luck on your search.
