Greetings and Happy New Year Heather, I will search my email that was archived a couple of years ago as I have a note describing James and Jeremiah Frost and Brown building the house you describe. Family notes say that my ancestor jane frost was the Daughter of James. However, the lists of his kids I have seen do not show her. Trying to solve that mystery. Hello! Does anyone have the above mentioned CD?? Just wondering if it leans more towards NH than Maine?? I have BEAL's (among othes) from York Maine and Beals' Island, Washington Co. as well. Just wondering if this would be worth the expense. If anyone is interested in this CD, the write up was as follows: Discover this sweeping collection of vital records, local histories, pension records, gravestone inscriptions, probate records, and census records. Comprehensive in its coverage of early Maine and New Hampshire, this Family Archive references approximately 331,000 individuals. Created from fourteen Genealogical Publishing Company books, these resources are especially valuable because many (such as a collection of gravestone inscriptions from pre-1770 New Hampshire) were gathered from small, local sources and would otherwise be difficult to track down. Among the indexed images, you'll find vital records for nearly 200 years of Londonderry, New Hampshire as well as a genealogical, historical, and biographical history of York, Maine. While this Family Archive includes extensive coverage of small towns, it also provides broad coverage of entire states. The Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, for example, offers biographical and genealogical information on every family established in Maine and New Hampshire before 1699. Transcriptions of the 1790 census for Maine and New Hampshire also provide broad coverage. In addition, you can search the indexed images of Maine Wills, 1640-1760 a volume often regarded as one of the greatest sources for colonial genealogy every published. The information that you can learn from this Family Archive varies, you can often learn: · Dates and details of vital events · Names and ages of family members · Details of an individual's estate · Personal characteristics · Information on military service (place of service, rank, etc.) · Details of an individual's immigration http://www.familytreemaker.com/catalog2001/523facd.html Thanks for any input you may have... Hi eveyone, I'm hoping that someone can help me with this massive confusion that I have. I am researching a Lawrence family who lived in Le'Tete/Letite. I have a question about Le'Tete. On the grant map that I have, Le'Tete (spelled Letite) is located to the west of Back Bay(land)and looks like a pennisula; however, there is a Letite bay at the top portion of the Back Bay(water) inbetween Back Bay(land) and Frye Island. I also read somewhere on the Charlotte county Genweb site that Frye Island used to be Letete Island, and was granted to William Paine? On the grant map it is listed as Frye Island. I had found a land grant to William Paine for 680 acres of land on Letete Island. To me on the map, Letete looks like a pennisula, is it an island? Or were there two Letete's, or was the whole Back bay area once Letite? In the 1865-1867 Hutchinson's directory, George and Nathan Lawrence are living in Le'tete in the community of Back Bay. Thank you very much to anyone who can clear up my confusion. Leanne
HI, Brian, I am researching in the Chelsea, Boston area, too and wondered the same thing. This is more difficult to search than in other parts of New England. If you get help, let me know what you find. I have ancestors in Chelsea, Boston and Havehill, MA. My grgrandmother was said to be born next door to the Old North Church on Salem St. in Boston and after spending a day at the Mass. Archives, I found no record of her birth or marriage in the records. I, too, am wondering if they ever kept them in that area. Have lots of records of ancestors in NH. Anyone out there that knows any more about this? Thayer. California. sea-2pals@aol.com
