    1. [MEWASHIN-L] Marriage Intention Question
    2. Newell Hall
    3. I have copies of marriage intentions from a town in ME recorded on forms specifically designed to record marriage intentions from Thomas B Mosher, Stationer, Portland ME. The town clerk entered the date that the marriage intention was recorded (say April 12, 1892) on the form where indicated, another date that the "certificate" was issued (say 16 April 1892) on the form where indicated, but the marriage is recorded at the Maine State Archives on yet a third date (April 17, 1892). Does anyone understand the meaning/significance of the 3 different dates? Does "certificate" mean marriage certificate? Is the date of recording the same as the intention date" or is the "intention date" the date the "certificate" was issued? Newell C. Hall

    1. [MEWASHIN-L] Re: MEWASHIN-D Digest V01 #57
    2. Priscilla, I don't know where you are located, but you can go to familysearch.com and look up the address of the Family History Center nearest you. There you can order the census film you need from Salt Lake for a nominal fee ($2-$3). They will send it to the center and you can go and read the film there. They will keep the film up to 3 months so you have time to go through it. And if that is not enough time, they will extend that time. Nancy

    1. [MEWASHIN-L] 1880 Census request
    2. Hello All, I am sending this to all of my mail lists, so please excuse if you receive it more than once. I would greatly appreciate it if someone with access to the 1880 census, that includes Milbridge, ME would make a copy of the following for me and contact me for my address. I would gladly pay any related expenses. I am trying to gather the info for my Mayflower line and have run into a problem. Our Memphis public library doesn't have Maine census records. I sent to a company that rents the rolls of film and carted a box full to the library only to find that they were of such poor quality that they were almost useless to me. The info is online at Newall Hall's site but the Mayflower Society does not want to accept a transcribed Internet copy. What I need is as follows: 22 Strout Otis S 69? farmer 22 Strout Eliza 53 wife 22 Strout Augusta J 27 dau 22 Strout Everett B 23 son; sailor 22 Strout Herbert 21 son; sailor 22 Strout Mary Ella 18 dau 22 Strout Benjamin F 15 son 22 Strout Ann 8 gr dau 22 Strout Rumicy? 6 gr dau 22 Strout Gleason C 31 sailor 22 Strout Abba C 24 wife Thank you ever so much. 1. [MEWASHIN-L] Hattie M. Dinsmore/Foster/Willey b. 1854 Whiting, Maine
    2. Lee-Anne Smithson Dahms
    3. Hi List I am still looking for info on Hattie M. Dinsmore b. 1854 per the IGI, parents Charles H. Dinsmore and Sarah. She was born in Whiting, Maine. She married George W. Willey of Cherryfield, Maine. He was first married to Susan E. Guptill also of Cherryfield. Hattie and George Willey were married in Windham Maine in 1881 and lived there. Somehow Hattie became a Foster as that was her name at the time of their marriage. They had a son Herbert Nash Willey who married a Lucy Webster of Gray, Maine in 1906. Hattie was alive at that time. They also had a son Clifford. Does anyone out their know anything of Hattie or her parents? She was never on the census's in Windham with George but always listed himself as married and the children were living with him. At his death it was reported that he was divorced, but I have found no divorce record. Lee-Anne Smithson Dahms sdahms@maine.rr.com
