Hi List, My grandfather was Harmon Rodney Townsend, Born February 28, 1919, in Lubec, Maine. I was told through family stories that his birth name was Golding/Golden and I recently went to Lubec to get his birth certificate and confirmed that it was indeed Golding/Golden( the records weren't clear enough to tell, so they put Golden on his certificate). My problen lies with his father, Elgin Golding/Golden. The birth certificate does not give an age, date of birth, for Elgin, just his place of birth, Eastport, Maine. I have contacted Eastport and they have no record of an Elgin Golding/Golden. I am looking for anyone who might have some advice or recognize the name. Thank you in advance for your help. Tina Townsend
I drove down the airline this morning - the 'Plantation 20' sign is still there. Tom Moffatt
Thank to all who replied to my question about Plantation 20. Jean B.
Hi Jean, In the east division Plantation No. 20 is now Crawford. In the west division Plantation No. 20 may still be No. 20. The numbers were east and west of Machias. Janice Gower

Hi everybody, I have recently received two beautiful pictures from the 1800's and placed them on my web site in hopes of identifying some of the people in the pictures. Jan Bryan will be creating a collection at the John B. Curtis Free Public library in Bradford, Me. The collection will be called the "Nellie Strout Greene Collection". It promises to be a wonderful collection of pictures and materials from the Alden Strout Family. However, these two pictures have several folks that are not identified. If you could take a minute and have a look, it would be much appreciated. Perhaps you will recognize some family members. There is further explanation on the page with the pictures. To get there go to www.priscillapaul.com or Click here: Priscilla's Web Page. This will take you to my "front page". Go about 3/4 ways down the page and you will see, in bright green letters, Strout Mystery Page and a place to click, which will take you to the right page. Be sure to double click on the pictures to enlarge them. I have sent this to every group I could think of that might have a Strout connection, so if you get this multiple times, I'm sorry, but I know you will understand and just delete the others. Enjoy the pictures. Thank you! Priscilla Paul

To Whom It May Interest .... I've lost someplace in PA during the 1860's a G/gf, William Laverty. He migrated from N Maine or NB Canada, alone, & according to family chatter he migrated to someplace in PA, worked the coal mines, died there. Unfortunately he arrived & died there, we think, in between national census's, hence no census record. He was a RC, but no PA RC diocese has any record of him, I've contacted every one of them. He, also, was b: in Co Armagh, Ireland, 1815 & was a naturalized citizen of the USA. His wife was Hannah Kelly Laverty, now interred in St Mary's RCCem, Houlton ME. His kids were Mary Elizabeth (Day), John, William, Annie Jane (Smith), Louisa Anna (Haggerty), Hannah, Edward & Henry James. Does anyone out there know of any other sources that I should check out? I was wondering if anyone would have any information regarding Joseph, Jane, or George Griffin? George was their child and was born in 1872 in Perry, He may have died in Princeton. They may have come from Annapolis Royal. I am also researching a McKenzie connection as George is believed to have been adopted by a person, perhaps a Doctor, by that name. There also may be a New Brunswick connection to this story as George's memory of his parentage is at odds with his records, as he my have had limited knowledge of his birth parents. Any information anyone may have would be greatly appreciated, Sincerely, Lewis Pusey.

Keziah is not a common name, at least in New England. Though this is probably not your connection, my great grandaunt was Keziah Elizabeth "Libby" SINCLAIR, who was born November 29, 1843 in No. 14 Plantation and grew up in Cherryfield, both in Washington County. No. 14 Plantation is only a stone's throw from Calais. Both the 1850 and 1860 censuses indicate that both her parents were born in Maine, but at the time they were born all of Maine was part of Massachusetts. Dean
