HI... Does anyone have the above mentioned CD?? The LDS web site http://www.familysearch.org states the following with regard to it: "file contains information on more than 4.6 million christenings, births, and marriages that occurred in the United States and Canada from about 1700 to 1888. This information came from church and vital records collected as a part of the Church's extraction program. The amount of information available varies greatly by time period and locality. " The map indicates that there are records on it from Maine, NB and NS. Can someone tell me just where in NB and NS these records are from. The site indicates that from NB there are 3 birth/christening records and 3 marriage records. Does this mean there are "3 actual records" or records from 3 different locations/parishes?? NS has 2 birth/christening "records" and 5 Marriage records. Maine has 35 birth and 45 marriage records. If there are records on this CD from Washington Co., Maine could someone let me know. I am especially interested in the areas of Beal's Island/Jonesport and Lubec/Eastport. For NB, I am interested in Campobello and Grand Manan Charlotte Co., and in NS the areas of Guysborough and Shelburne Counties. Thanks very much!! My 3G grandfather was Abner Bailey, b. 1822, d. 1891 [gravestone], buried in the Village Cemetery, Princeton. He married Alithea/Althea/Elthea Craft. They are listed in the 1850 Census of Baileyville [dwelling 18/family 18]. Does anyone know anything about his parents? Alithea's sister, Elizabeth, married a Nathaniel Bridges Bailey, her sister, Almira, married a Jacob Bridges Bailey and her brother, Reuben, married an Esther Bailey. I'm guessing that all these Baileys may be descended from Nathaniel Bailey, the original settler of Baileyville. David Mitchell James 420 Central Rd Rye, NH 03870-2546 603 964-5472 jamesdm49@aol.com

Just came across a small collection of Catholic records from microfilm F16205 that I perused at the Charlotte County Archives. My problem with it was that it had mixed St. Andrews and St. George records but most of them were not indicated as to location. I picked the very few that were from St. George and seeing the name 'Golden' lately, thought I would list these. June 28, 1845 Wedding: James Nevil, laborer and Johanna O'Hearn, spinster in the presence of John Lynott and Mary Golding--Priest ? McDonald October 30, 1847 Wedding: William Irving to Lucinda Golden in the presence of John Clayburn and Ann Donnelly Priest ? Dear Tina, I'm from Washington County, graduated from Lubec High School and was in Eastport to highschool for half a year or so. I did not know anyone named Golding or Golden in those areas but since the name is not seen that often, I wanted to let you know of an area where I did know a Golden family - in Bangor. In approximately 1950 I worked and roomed in Bangor, in a house owned by an elderly couple, the Goldens. Sorry that I can't remember their first names, but I can remember that they were lovely people, a true gentlewoman and gentleman. Mr. Golden had a son, I believe, in Stockton Springs or he dated someone there - seems to me it was Frank Golden, must have been in his late 20's or early 30's. I think that Frank Golden was Mrs. Golden's (my landlady) stepson. I am really sorry to sound so vague, but if you have a way to check Bangor, Maine in 1949-1950's, you might turn up some info. I do not remember the name Elgin. Sorry I can't help you more. Sincerely, Mildred Boynton Laurine Visit my AOL Hometown website at: http://hometown.aol.com/mlaurine/index.html
There are several Golding families in the 1900 Washington Co ME Census, although none directly in Eastport. The closest I could find to "Elgin" is the following: Danforth, Washington Co ME Sheet 13B GOLDING: Bliss E., head, b Apr 1876, age 24, married 3 yrs, CAN CAN CAN Lottie, wife, b Sep 1880, age 20, 3children/2 living, ME Unknown Unknown Blaine Victor, son, b Feb 1897, age 3, ME CAN ME Myra, dau, b Dec 1899, age 1, ME CAN ME Susan E., mother, Jul 1850, age 50, married 26 yrs, 7 children/6 living, CAN CAN CAN Dwight M., brother, Mar 1889, age 11, ME CAN CAN Algie L., brother, Jul 1895, age 5, ME CAN CAN "Algie" could be a nickname for Elgin. The other alternative is that "Elgin" is a middle name. Hope this has helped. Mary

GOLDING/GOLDEN Hi List, My grandfather was Harmon Rodney Townsend, Born February 28, 1919, in Lubec, Maine. I was told through family stories that his birth name was Golding/Golden and I recently went to Lubec to get his birth certificate and confirmed that it was indeed Golding/Golden( the records weren't clear enough to tell, so they put Golden on his certificate). My problen lies with his father, Elgin Golding/Golden. The birth certificate does not give an age, date of birth, for Elgin, just his place of birth, Eastport, Maine. I have contacted Eastport and they have no record of an Elgin Golding/Golden. I am looking for anyone who might have some advice or recognize the name. Thank you in advance for your help.
