John, I don't know if the following information will help, or just add more confusion. Burnham Clinton Estes was age 27 (year of birth would be 1883) when he married 19 Aug 1911 in Lewiston Gertrude Edith Hitchcock age 18. Burnham was born Mapleton, Maine (Aroostook County) Gertrude was born in Lewiston. Both were residents of Lewiston. Burnham was a shoemaker and Gertrude did housework. His parents were: Elijah Estes deceased born Detroit, and Margaret Ketch (place of birth not legible) Gertrude's parents were: Charles W. Hitchcock, residing Farmington, born Temple, Maine and Mary Deane residing Farmington, b. England. The 1880 census index for Maine does not show an Elijah Estes of the right age to be Margaret's husband. However in Mapleton, Maine in 1880 there was a Maggie Estes, age 14, (b. 1866), married, living in Mapleton, Maine with the Marshall Redeker family. Living next door to the Redeker's are three Estes men; Omon, head of house, age 25, single, Benjamin A., age 19, married, and Fernald age 27, single, all born Maine. In 1880 living in Caribou is the Israel and Mahala Ketch family, there is no daughter Margaret in the family or any daughter b. 1866. Is the Maggie Estes in Mapelton, Israel's daughter and Burnham C.
