    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UEB.2ACE/399.1 Message Board Post: Samuel G. Burton was a Seventh-day Adventist (before that name was officially adopted), at least for a while in the mid-1850s. You will find references to him in the May 29, 1855 issue of the Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, p. 240, also June 25, 1857, p. 62. The second item is a letter headed "Bro. S. G. Burton writes from Pittsfield." Ellen White, co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church had a meal in his house on Aug. 12, 1855. She writes, "We stopped on the way to Brother Burton's, a poor Brother with nine children...They had molasses to sweeten our drink with. They are real good people." (Letter 2, 1855) If you have any further information about the dates of death of Samuel or Lydia or their religious affiliations, I would be grateful to receive it. Success in your research! Roland Karlman Bracknell, Berks. U.K.
