My James S. and Olive (Davis) Ma/erchant family was know to have lived in New Vineyard during 1810-1820 and perhaps into the late 1820's. On several census records in Michigan 2 of James' sons state they were born in Somerset County 1 son b. 1817 the other in 1824, however I can find no evidence/proof to the statement. Franklin County was established in 1838. Prior to that I think New Vineyard was in Kennebec County, or was it in Somerset County? Any help with this conundrum would be greatly appreciated, Patti J.
