It remained in Kennebec until 1809 when Somerset Co was created.It remained in Somerset until 1838 when Franklin Co was created. There was a lot of county border changes during all this; some gaining ground, some losing. It was right on the southeast border of Kennebec and Somerset, but Somerset lost ground when Franklin was created and New Vineyard ended up in Franliin Co where is remains today.
