I even have a typed diary (part of) written by his son Sam after this limb of the Maine Hamiltons moved to Minnesota. Memory tells me he started this diary in the late 1860's. My husband descends from the Hamilton family of Maine (Cambridge-Ripley-Harmony Area/Saco & Berwick area) which basically goes like this: Elijah Jr./Elijah Sr./Gabriel #2/Gabriel #1/David Hamilton married to Anna Jackson or whichever spelling you like for her name. Without looking it up, I believe Elijah Sr. and Jonathan were brothers.
