    3. I am assisting my cousin discover her ancestry and this search has led to Maine. Katherine Scribner White was born abt. 1842 in Maine. In the 1850 census for Smithfield, Somerset Co., she is listed in the Christopher Mosher household. She is listed as Katherine White. Another child James A. Mosher is listed. James A is the natural child of Christopher Knight Mosher and Emily Augusta Clay. Katherine was adopted. C.K. Mosher and Emily were married in 1843, Katherine was already 8 in the 1850 census. Katherine married Charles Warren Welch in Waterville in 1863. We believe that Charles Warren Welch was the son of George Welch and Betsey Ross Russell (We think). Family moved to San Francisco California and had 6 children, 4 of which lived to adulthood. In an article published at the turn of the centurn in San Francisco, Katherine is referred to as Katherine Scribner White. Maybe Scribner is the surname of her mother (Wouldn't that be convenient) So question is, does anyone have a White-Scribner marriage in the Somerset Co., or Kennebec Co area in 1830s or 1840s? Naturally if anyone has researched any of these folks, we would like to connect with you. Steve
