Surnames: PATTEN, SOUTHARD Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UEB.2ACE/448 Message Board Post: I am seeking info on marriage of a Joseph Patten of Maine and Elizabeth "Betsey" Southard - probably late 1790's, maybe in or around Skowhegan, Maine. Betsey Southard is the daughter of Abraham Southard born around 1777 or 78. I am descended from a Joseph Patten, born in Skowhegan around 1777, who was married to a Betsey (maiden name unknown). I am trying to find out if Betsey Southard is the Betsey who was married to my ancestor, Joseph Patten. All I have been able to find is that this Betey Southard married a "Joseph Patten of Maine". But of course there are other Joseph Pattens in Maine. It seems quite likely, since two of Betsey Southard's brothers named a son Leander Patten Southard. My Joseph and Betsey had a son named Leander Patten. Another brother named a son Elbridge G. Southard and my Joseph and Betsey had a son named Elbridge G. Patten. And then Betsey's brother, John Southard named a daughter, Elizabeth Patten (Betsey) Southard! Also I have seen evidence that some of these brothers were in the Skowhegan, Pittsfield, St. Albans areas. This all seems too much to be a coincedence, but would like something more to confirm it. Any info or suggestions welcome. Thanks, Diana
