Looking for ROBBINS descendants throughout various areas of Maine and elsewhere who had ROBBINS parents, grandparents, G gps, GG gps, aunts, uncles, cousins who were from the greater Deer Isle area and vicinity from the 1850's - late 1900's. Please, if you have any knowledge of anyone living or dead who has a link to any ROBBINS of the Deer Isle area, contact me. A large number moved away for economic reasons, and during the Civil War, WW I, depression, WW II, etc. Some first went to Bangor, Belfast, Brewer, Camden, Mt Desert, Rockland, Washington Co coastal areas. But they also went to Portland and Boston and other places. If they were in the military, they often stayed in an area where they had been stationed. My line went to Portland, Boothbay Harbor, Dayona Beach, FL, NC, NY, FL, Bahamas, ME, TN, AR and now some live AR, FL, and only get to ME summers. This was all as a result of my father's work, my going to college, marrying, being widowed, finishing college, working, marrying, going wherever my husband's work took us. I keep coming across info such as: [totally made up: Jane b abt 1845, m Herbert (1st or last name ?), had 2 sons, 1 named Jack (nickname for John, Jackson, or ?); three daus, one of whom m a JONES and went to Boston; and I think they (who ? Jane or the dau bef/aft she went to Boston ?) lived Augusta. Heard Jane died abt 1900 and had gs who was killed in WW I, but I think he was married and had some ch.] Most grateful for any information as I am trying to compile all the ROBBINS descendants of those of the Deer Isle area 1750 - Present. Loring Plummer b. 2 Apr1811 at Brunswick, ME d.18 Nov, 1888 at Dover, ME. Horace Plummer ( Had three sons.) (No more is known about Horace.) __________________ More on Loring Plummer Loring Plummer married Sally Grant (b. 25 Oct 1816, d. 9 Sep 1875) about 1832. He married 1st Sally Grant. The date and place of their marriage is not known. I would like to find out the date and place of this marriage. Sally Grant born 25 Oct 1816 in place not known, but the best guess is Athens, Canaan, Dover, Skowhegan, or Solon, ME or these general areas as the names and borders of some of these town have changed since 1816. She died on 9 Sep 1875 in Dover, ME After Sally’s death Loring remarried. He married 2nd Sarah B. Spearman, on 10 Mar 1876 He married 3nd Lydia M. Jones, on 28 Aug 1879. She was born about 1815. Sally would have been 17 in 1833. So I guess Loring and Sally got married on or before the year of 1833. ____________ In the 1870 Census for the town of Dover, ME, Sally Plummer was listed as born in Canaan, ME. On the Death Record of her son James W. Plummer his mother was Sally Grant born in Solon, ME. Loring Plummer is believed to been born in Brunswick, ME. His father then moved to Athens, ME where Loring grew up. Loring and Sally appear to have had several of their children in Athens, ME before moving to Dover, ME Some records say Mrs. Sally Plumer was born in Dover, ME. I believe this is an error, but it may be worth checking out. The Town Clerk in Canaan, ME told me that part of 1816 Canaan is now part of Skowhegan, ME or vice versa. This is why I say the best guess is Athens, Canaan, Dover, Skowhegan, or Solon, ME or these general areas as the names and borders of some of these town have changed since 1816. ____________ The information I am looking for is: I would like to find Sally Grant’s parents names, and date and location of birth, marriage and death, and the children in that family. I am working on a tree of all the descendants of David Kincaid who may have been the first Kincaid to come to America. He arrived in Boston before 1684, then Moved to NH. His son Napthali went to Maine about 1740. All Kincaids in Maine until recently descend from this family and the family of Patrick Kincaid who settled in Brunswick in 1745. I have been watching these posts with just general interest and then started thinking something was familiar. Today I looked up John Coloston Kincaid, 4th great Grandson of Napthali. I found that he lived in Athens and married Nellie O Corson. Both are in Mt Rest. I would appreciate any info or pictures of their graves. They had two daughters Amy and Belva. Belva married Oliver French. I recently received info that their daughter Amy married a Jones and ran a general store. I assume that it may have been her father's store as he was listed in 1920 as "General Merchant". Can anyone help me here? Are there any descendants of Amy or Belva in the area now? I would like to hear from anyone who has information on Herbert D. Ayer, who died at the age of 95 in September, 1979. His picture resembles my father so much that I really wonder if he could be related to us. My great-great-grandmother was Sarah Ayer of Bethel, ME who married Zebedee Rowell of Solon, ME 1 Feb 1840. She was born 9 Jan 1812, a daughter of Joseph Ayer and Eunice Clark. An interesting little anecdote passed down through family tradition is that, when a school teacher in the South Solon community, she looked out the window and saw a man (Zebedee) walking up the road and said, "That must be the homeliest man I have ever seen." But she married him and they had three children, Ruel Edwin Rowell, who became my great-grandfather, Antoinette, who married Galen Kincaid, and Harlow Kilgore Rowell. I want to find out if this Herbert Ayer ( whose obituary I have had tucked away since 1979!!!) may be related to this Ayer family.
