    3. Hi! I am a descendant of Ebenezer Dean and I have been looking into this for an hour or so tonight, and have sent an email to a genealogist--a Dean descendant herself--asking her opinion. She may respond to your query and at least I think she will tell me what she knows. I am not sure if he could have been in Norridgewock that year, and he married his second wife--Jane Green--in Vinalhaven in 1801, according to some undocumented information I have. I will get back to you as soon as I can get a little more info on him. Oh, by the way, if you have access to a library which has, or could borrow thru interlibrary loan, a book (2 vol.) by Coburn, called Skowhegan on the Kennebec, I think, there is quite a bit on Ebenezer Dean in that. I think the second vol. is genealogy, and the book does include some of the surrounding teams, including Norridgework, I THINK. (My memory could be faulty, of course.) 3. Info I have on a Thomas Maxwell connected to the Nevens family from Pejepscot(Danville) to CAnaan(Hartland). THese were town name changes. In the Pejepscot/Danville VR at Maine State Archives: In the family of William Nevens and Elizabeth (Ray) Nevens was listed a Thomas Nevens, son of Polly Nevens, dau of William & Elizabeth. Thomas was b 23 July 1802. Polly Nevens, b 14 June 1782, m. Robert Maxwell from Cape Elizabeth,ME, on 24 Aug 1806 at Pejepscot, ME. He d at Danville 12 Nov 1845. Polly d at Danville 12 July 1856. Robert Maxwell adopted Thomas Nevens. Listed under births in Hartland, ME, VR are 2 nephews of John Nevens, Thomas Maxwell, b July 21, 1802, and William Nevens, b Sept 24 1808. Looks as if Thomas Nevens Maxwell went to CAnaan/Hartland with his uncle, John Nevens. If you make a connection to this Maxwell I would appreciate knowing for my records. Alice Thibeault

    2. I don't have any other information about Catherine Pollard besides what is contained here and in my previous post. Rootsweb Archives: "Historical Sketch of Cornville, The East Somerset County Register 1911-12, Compiled and Published by Chatto & Turner, Auburn Maine, pp.76-78. ...Joseph Parsons was one of the very earliest settlers of the town. His wife was Sarah Ames. They settled a little east of the East Ridge road on Road "G." He cleared up a farm and built buildings on the place. His children were: John, Nathaniel, Sam'l, Marcus, Nancy m. Ames, the mother of Mrs. L. M. N. Stevens, Statira m. French, Phineas, Asher, Joseph. The oldest son; John, went a short distance to the east and cleared up another place. His wife was Catherine Pollard. His children were: Statira, Sarah J. m. Tracy, John F., Marcus L.

I sent a letter to the Canaan town hall a couple weeks ago trying to get information from death records of Robert and Sarah in hope of identifying parents and maiden names. The belief from family sources is Sarah's maiden name was Neville. My great grandparents were Charles and Mary. I'm told his middle name was Neville named after his mother's maiden name. The DOB's on Robert/Sarah's other childen are Elizabeth- 1837 (age 13 1850 census, not on 1860) Amos- 1838 Sarah- 1840 John- 1842 Daniel- 1846 I don't know if these match the VR's you have. I had found Thomas Maxwell also in the census and at this point am assuming him to be related to Robert somehow. He was listed on the same page of the 1840 census leaving me to believe they were neighbors. I do have one question regarding Amos. The 2 wives the VR's indicate he was married to, Mary E and Flora A Wheeler... sisters? I appreciate the help you have given. Kevin

It's so small that you won't have any trouble finding Robert & Sarah - it is the only Maxwell grave in this cemetery. I have an old (ca 1888) map of Canaan which shows a R. Maxwell living in the Chase Hill section of town. I have also transcribed the Canaan VRs and find the following in my records: John Maxwell and wife Viola and ch Viola & Bertrand; Daniel Maxwell and wife Julie and their ch Mattie E.; Julia d 14 July 1878 and Daniel m Caroline Wyman and they had John A. and Ethan L.; marriage intentions for Jackson Weeks and Mary E. Maxwell; Thomas L. Maxwell and Miss Merribah D. Bailey; Amos T. Maxwell and Mary E. Wheeler; Charles N. Maxwell and Mary J. Briggs of Winthrop; Amos T. Maxwell and Flora A. Wheeler; Daniel R. Maxwell and Julia A. Bigelow of Cornville; Howard Ricker and Sarah F. Maxwell; death of Sally Maxwell 28 Aug 1886; children of Amos T. Maxwell and wives Mary and Flora; children of Thomas T. Maxwell. Julia, wife of Daniel and Thomas L. are buried in Brown's Corner Cemetery; Mary E., wife of Amos T, buried in Old Village Cemetery. Hope this helps.
