The cemetery link takes you a some interesting information. I found several Goffs in the Bingham cemetery but none in the ones listed in Moscow or Pierce Hill. Still it has a lot of info and I've just visited that one area. Looks like they might also have a message board. That sounds like a good place to post as well as here. Just a thought. I have folks from that area too and I plan to spend some time browsing there.

Hi Donna I am looking at the Google map of Corinna going to St Albans on Route 43 & 23. The rooad that curves back to Corinna would be Hamm Road. The next one to the right is Meeks rd. I don't think I have been on that as it is a dead end as you say. When I can get a hold of my sister I will ask her if she knows any5hing about that road. She has lived in Area since 1958 so may know something.Other then that if you can get a hold on the town clerk maybe they can tell you if anyone lives out there or if there are any buildings left. They would know by the tax records although I doubt they would give you a name of who owns it now.As I said before the ;laies there are real nice and I am sure they will be glad to help. There is book that was done on St. Albans history but for the life of me I don't remember who has it. You might find out by posting to the board and asking speciffically for it. Again I have contacted someone who had it and they did looks up for me.. Hi Al, I don't know how, but I never saw your email until today. Thank you so much for your offer of help. I have made a few trips to St. Albans over the years to search for my gt-gt-grandfather's farm, but they were always rather spontaneous weekend trips and no one was around to ask. No, I have not contacted the town clerk about the farm's location, although I did write the town clerk with my great-great-grandfather's name to ask if there were any records on him in the vital records of the town (answer was no). I have a photocopy of that 1883 map. When you look at it and Corinna is on the right (East) and Palmyra on the bottom (South), there is what appears to be a major road cutting across St. Albans east to west from Corinna straight to St. Albans Village. The road that my ancestor's farm is on branches off north from this major road. If you go back visually to the Corinna/St. Albans border and imagine traveling that road headed for the village, the first road to bisect this one heads south to Palmyra and north, curving around back to Corinna. The second road encountered does not bisect the east-west road but merely heads north and dead-ends. My ancestor's farm appears to be at the end of that road. It looks to be about halfway between Indian Pond and the Corinna border. If this is too confusing, I could mail you a copy of the map showing the "G. Henderson" farm. Thanks for anything you can do, Donna >>> [email protected] 02/12 4:23 PM >>> Hi I am from around there but real familiar with the towns roads outside of town. Good morning from Australia. I am looking into the life of Samuel Dean born 1833 in Madison Somerset County. I have saved the message (below) from Carmen Crocker posted last October, hoping I could track more on Samuel before making inquiries on this list. I believe he was the son of Samuel as he was referred to Samuel Jr here in Australia where he was for a short time in the gold rush years of the 1850s. Can anyone please confirm that Samuel Dean Jr who lived in Madison in 1850 with father Samuel, and Samuel Sr's wife Susan, is indeed the grandson of Ebenezer mentioned below? I believe that perhaps Susan was not the mother of Samuel Jr. and that his mother was Elizabeth. Samuel Jr. came to Australia with over 100 men from Somerset County to dig for gold. Many stayed here, many moved on or returned home. I am a descendant of Ebenezer Dean and I have been looking into this for an hour or so tonight, and have sent an email to a genealogist--a Dean descendant herself--asking her opinion. She may respond to your query and at least I think she will tell me what she knows. I am not sure if he could have been in Norridgewock that year, and he married his second wife--Jane Green--in Vinalhaven in 1801, according to some undocumented information I have. I will get back to you as soon as I can get a little more info on him. Oh, by the way, if you have access to a library which has, or could borrow thru interlibrary loan, a book (2 vol.) by Coburn, called Skowhegan on the Kennebec, I think, there is quite a bit on Ebenezer Dean in that. I think the second vol. is genealogy, and the book does include some of the surrounding teams, including Norridgework, I THINK. (My memory could be faulty, of course.) Hi, This is a question I've asked the list before but not for a year or so. Maybe there is someone new on the list who can help. My great-great-grandfather George Washington Henderson died in St. Albans in 1891. He was separated from my great-great-grandmother, who was living in Auburn. He was residing at the family farm when he died. He had debt and his farm was auctioned off when he died. I have an 1880 map of St. Albans that shows the farm of "G. Henderson." I would like to connect with someone who knows enough about St. Albans for me to describe where the G. Henderson farm is on that map, who then might be able to tell me if the farm still exists, and if so, how to get to it. If necessary, I could probably scan the map. Anyone out there know St. Albans really well or know someone who does?
